Our shop hosted the Economics Reading Group which is an entrepreneurship class led by Dr. Phelps. We had about 20 students crammed into our little woodworking shop, and we got to share with them how a two man guitar shop has been able to stay commercially viable for almost 20 years.
The students were actually very engaged. I'm sure the pizza and drinks didn't hurt, but it felt like a great practical learning experience that I wish I had received in college. Not that our experience will necessarily translate or that we had words of wisdom, but breaking the bubble of the campus and seeing how people have put their training into practice.
Anyway just a shout out to Ryan Phelps and what he's doing in the college of business.
