I like the all purple field look.

I'm no tree expert like some in here, but we should atleast get the tree right.

Hope the 2024 season plays out better than that meme.

Doesn't resemble our most common Pine Tree(s). Loblolly or long leaf. Yikes.

Nah, rumor has it that he just goes down to Lowe's, buys an imperfect 2x4 or two, splits 'em up, rubs some magic elixir all over 'em, and makes some ukuleles or banjos or some such things.

Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine has SFA finishing 3rd in the SLC, and claims this is the best SFA roster since the 2021 playoff season.

Honestly the team looks good on paper. Just need to actually perform. I could see us getting 3rd. Even with some strong upsets in the mix. If we can't stop any run well we are in a world of hurt once again.

Our family is new to SFA football this fall. Where is the best place to park and set up a tailgate? What are the rules? Can you tailgate on campus anywhere?

Thanks,
New Jack

Welcome New Jack! I'm in Ohio, so I can't give you any info since I haven't been to SFA in many years. Still a rabid fan though. Glad to have you aboard.

Hey there. You'll be able to find the "official tailgating rules etc" on sfajacks.com

I'm a regular tailgater, and have been tailgating under the shade of the north side of the forestry building. A number of good tents are in the vicinity.

Specific rules , I don't know. But, here's my preferences.

1. Tents should be purple or purple and white.
2. Chairs. Purple - preferred. Red - Acceptable. Bearkat Orange - Your tossed.
3. Purple Lights is the official beer of my tailgate. Highly recommended.
4. Burgers - Medium rare - Cheddar, with a slice of onion and a hint of mustard.
5. Earl Campbells Hotlinks a good first choice for dogs
6. Drinking starts at 9:00AM on games days.

Thanks for the info.

Are the tailgating spots first come first serve or can you reserve a spot?

The spots near the forestry building are first come first serve.

There are some concerns that construction of the new forestry building may move our tailgating over to the charter school parking lot. Be aware.

Did the article say why he thought this was the most talented team since 2021?

This is my first year following the team so I'm playing catch up.

I believe he was referring to an article in a publication (Dave Campbell's)

You'd have to buy the magazine to read it, as there is no link.

Not bad but I really wish they would sell Gameday jerseys that actually look like our Gameday jerseys. They haven't done that since we had the Nike contract.

You'd think we could get some licensed under armor jerseys.

My SFA Apparel wish is to have Texas Size Bling be our official fan apparel provider that the university sends out email blasts for.

They've got the best quality and the best desings in town, would be like having our own homegrown homefield apparel.

Honestly forgot about Vidlak completely. Gotta think he'll start the season at QB3, at least until he learns the offense. He's at the disadvantage of coming in after spring ball, so timing and offensive knowledge will have to come either a lot faster or throughout the season.

The rest seems pretty reasonable. We are very deep at both RB and WR, as long as the QB play is solid, which I expect with Maurer having a full offseason as the starter, and the O-Line is improved our offense should be scary.

Defensively there's a lot of new pieces and youth at spots, but this was a solid recruiting and transfer class. I expect a lot of them to make huge impacts early.

Momentum will be key. Last year once we lost the momentum we had from a solid start to the season we became our own worst enemy.

If not Vidlak, then I'd say

He looked really good in the Spring Game with his timing.
