Abilene Christian's offense was awful against NAU. They played their best defensive game of the year, which saved them.
Also helps that we played maybe 6 teams that were better than NAU this year, and beat most of them.
It sucks anyway you look at it, because yeah if we didn't lose to ETAMU we likely take ACU's spot and get an easy first round playoff game. But seeing how their backup played against NAU(3 interceptions), I wouldn't say they were better prepared at the backup QB position than us. Just got a really lucky first round draw.
North Dakota State is going to make them wish for a mercy rule if their starter isn't back.
Thank you! I understand frustration but it was not "good" offensive coaching that got ACU the win. NAU was already a highly questionable team, & looking at the game, NAU's QB didn't even go 50%. Sounds like a stout defensive appearance by ACU.
BTW & no shade to our defense because they were very good this year, but in ETAMU's last 6 games, their QB threw a pick in every single game, except the SFA game. It's already difficult playing with a back up, so the defense needs to be as good as ever with a backup in. For ACU they showed up & shut out NAU, but SFA did not do the same against ETAMU.
