Well i dont like that move. That's a bad look for SFA to cancel the series this close to football season and as an out of conference game it didnt effect the conference schedule we need to put together.
Someone must REALLY be cracking the whip on money spent for travel.
Bad look and SFA deserves any criticism it receives on the matter.

My guess is it was either an impossible date with the new conference schedule for some reason, or McBroom was willing to take the hit to give the new offensive staff some easier games to get settled in.

The latter isn't the worst idea in the world, but I really wish we'd have kept the game.

From what I understand this game has been in the works to be called off since before Ryan left. The goal was to bring in a 7th home game this year.

While that is possible, " in the works" would imply a mutual agreement. According to the MSU news release, McBroom informed MSU on May 24th that we were backing out of that agreement and did it on short notice.
Now that is the MSU release so potential for some bias on their side. I would really like to hear our AD's comments on why we pulled out. A 7th home game would be great for the fans that show up but who will the opponent be at this late date...Warner from Florida again so we could score 90?

That breaks up that stretch of games nicely.

I guess we were unable to find any replacement for the MSU game, we only have 11 games on our schedule.
