Bringing some serious DB talent. We could end up being deep. Some solid additions by Carthel and crew.

So does anyone know if we are getting a 6th game?!

This late I doubt it. TSU would definitely be a possibility, they have an opening that week, but they'd probably need to drop one to their other games which I doubt they'd do. Plus it would essentially give us no byes. Even though talent wise I think we can win the SLC, depth will become an issue.

Edit: Nevermind, they have a conference game that week.

It would likely need to be a sub d1 school. Maybe an FBS game in the final week but if we're in the playoff race there's no way I'd risk that.

Obviously the word is out to use the catch phrase "geographic footprint" when discussing the move.

EXCELLENT!!! He's a great acquisition.

BTW, I'm really impressed with all of these transfers. Carthel and his staff have done an exceptional job of recruiting! We're going to surprise a lot of people with just how good we're going to be this Fall.

I swear it better not be Alabama getting their annual late season FCS game in.

If they're willing to come to Nac, I'll allow it.

I was going to guess Sam, but their schedule is full.

As much as I want the BOTPW back, and I really really want it back, I don't want to see us play Sam again in football until we are back on an even playing field. If we win, great, we beat an FBS team, if we lose, Sam Houston fans will brag despite the fact it'll be a game they were supposed to win.

If that takes another 10-15 years for us to get to the FBS or whatever new subdivision the G5 and FCS may be apart of, so be it. But at least when we got lost the past decade it was fair. Now we'd essentially be taking a paycheck from our biggest rival to get beat down.

I'm with you. We don't play Sam until we are even in scholarships.

With 11 games I was going to place my over/under at 6.5. We will see what game 12 is.

Ads on the turf at Homer Bryce?

It could (probably will) happen this Fall, since the NCAA has approved commercial sponsor advertisements on football fields in all three levels of competition. This could create a new stream of revenue for schools, like SFA, who are struggling with mounting costs due to vast changes in the college sports landscape, IMO not the least of which is the underhanded theft of funds from non-power schools by Presidents and AD's of Power Four schools to pay for the losing lawsuit they recently experienced.

I could only work my way to 4 to 5 wins with the current schedule.

I've got us win/loss the following:

North American. - W. 64 -12 SFA wins.
North Texas - L. We get blown out
McNeese - W. MSU went 0-11 last year
Northern Colorado - W. UNC ain't that good
Northwestern St. - W. This game was never close last year. NW is worse this year.
Lamar - L. Lamar on the upswing
SE LA - L. We hang in there. Close
HCU. - W. HCU is replacing a lot. Plus a new coach
Nicholls - ? If our LB Corp is as good as it could be, we could win this game.
A&M Commerce - W. Beat these guys easily last year
UIW - L. We ain't there yet.

6-5. Could be 7-4.

Think this is that far off? NAU, McNeese, UNC and NWST feel like 70% plus to win all 4. 3 out 4. Likely. A&M Commerce shouldn't be an issue. HCU. I feel like HCU should be a win. Tons of turnover, on a team that was just barely above 500

Gotcha. I keep picking 6.5 games and keep being disappointed.

I think best case scenario we win 9 games and win the conference. I can't shake the feeling there will be a head scratcher to someone we don't even expect to lose to no matter what. It always seems to happen.

Worst case I think 6 wins. Our schedule is infinitely easier than last year, but the new offense and all the new pieces on the roster concern me.

I'm not worried about Maurer at QB. He's had an entire offseason as the starter to improve and the coaches are high on his improvements. Hopefully the new offense utilizes his athleticism and doesn't make it so damn obvious when we're doing a designed QB run. Or play action pass. Or pass. Or run. Just any play.

I think last year was not a good representation at all of this teams talent, they just didn't know how to finish games in the first half of this season, and straight up quit the second half. Talent wise we should have best APSU, should have best UCA, hung in there with Troy, and should have beat Utah Tech.

Hopefully this offseason has either taught those players how to finish and fight, or they brought in the right players who know how to.

Offensively, the running back position has lots of depth and talent, but the o-line is unknown with so little division I experience coming back. I know the new OC wants to throw the ball more, but if the OL comes together, we could see a very good ball control ground game materialize.

The linebackers and secondary should be the strength of this defense, while a young defensive front will need to step it up and get more pressure on that QB.

Always as a fan I just hope that this is the year when everything comes together in chemistry and execution along with some luck and calls that go our way, making for a special season.

I'm probably a "glass half full" guy. So, I see 4 - 5 wins, almost a given. North American, McNeese, Northern Colorado, Northwestern and Texas A&M Commerce. That's 5.

Two other possibilities that aren't long shots. HCU & SELA. I can imagine 7. That's probably the outside unless our O-Line really clicks.
