Matt, I've heard that your county judge has been fighting the system about shutdowns. Is that true from your experience?

4 confirmed cases now in Nac. My 90 year old grandmother was admitted into the hospital today with very low oxygen (trouble breathing) and fever. She's been tested. Results in 2-5 days.

Yeah, the order he issued says that all businesses are essential to the local economy and should stay open, if the business can abide by CDC guidelines advocating social distancing.

The majority of non-essential places still closed, but yeah is approach has been terrible.

Thanks everyone for the prayers and well wishes. She's doing better today on oxygen, but of course no one can see her. All info comes from hospital staff.

I think that as the cases rise people are seeing more and more how this is something to pay attention to. My work - Splunk - has actually shot up because as everyone works from home, tracking and telemetry has become more prevalent.

Our daughter is home and hating the distance learning but at least her on campus job is allowing her to work from home. She works on the team that provides support for the online learning application.

Good to hear Jeff. There are definitely some fields that will benefit during this time. Happy that you can stay busy.

I'm now doing the stay at home thing with my three girls. Getting them to do the boring class work online is like pulling teeth. We have to do it in cycles: computer, outside play, snack, computer, more outside, etc.

I've tried hard to make my coursework more interactive and less sitting in front of a zoom camera. Then again, I teach an elective so my classes fall further secondary to core classes.

My management students have a simulator that puts them in the seat of running a manufacturing business. This is the first year I have used this simulation and I really like it. It doesn't fully encompass all scenarios and how things work, but it introduces you to basic situations. My Principles of Business students are working on Personal Finance simulators.

That said, the number of students I have actually participating are low. Again, it goes back to being an elective that has no bearing on GPA/Class Rank...

3997 cases, 58 deaths. April 1. Officially four cases in Nac, 5 in Angelina. Many more people getting tested locally.

In one week, we've quadrupled in cases from 1,000 to 4,000 and in deaths from 15 to almost 60. That's a rough trend. But it was the first full week of statewide testing. Hoping it slows some.

Sadly, the Texas numbers are probably going to rocket up until atleast May.

We're testing so few numbers per capita that we're going to be behind the ball on this for a while.

Stay safe everyone.

Been working from home since last week. I'm a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology at Alief ISD (West of HISD) and live in Sugar Land. Incredibly blessed that we will continue to get paid, online learning or complete shut down. Last week was frustrating with TEA guidelines, learning to work from home. This week has been better. 25% of our students do not have internet or a device. All schools closed until 5/4 but I hear from higher ups, it will be rest of school year.

This is V's 3rd week to work from home with the Texans. They have been supportive, even brought a Dr on to do a conference call with them one afternoon to keep workers informed.

There is free COVID testing at the Smart Financial Centre, 3 miles from our house and Ft. Bend Co. Is giving away free disenfectant for surfaces to residents of the county. We are going out very little as I have asthma and my senior mom lives with us. Having groceries delivered, etc as much as possible.

My dogs, on the other hand, are loving the quarantine as a lap is always available for their naps.

Up to 6 locally. Still waiting on my grandmother's results though the good news is they think it's just good old fashioned pneumonia. Now to get her out of there before she picks it up.

4669 cases, 70 deaths. April 2. 6 official cases in Nacogdoches, 6 in Angelina. Representatives from hospitals in both towns are now concerned that the numbers are going to climb quickly for East Texas. PPE (personal protection equipment) shortages are starting to be the concern of the day.

My personal 10 day chart shows a pretty consistent growth in cases and deaths so far. It's about as linear as a graph of real world numbers get.

Also, if anyone has a small business(fewer than 500 employees), call your banker, or a local bank about the Payment Protection loans.

Theyre forgivable if you spend more than 75% of it on keeping your employees on payroll for the next two and a half months.

They giving people trouble again?

I thought they were opening it up, but then again, I haven't seen a bank website yet that's actively taking applications.

Everything I saw this morning on Twitter was a ton of angry people that got rejected
TallTexan

Wow.

Personally, if my business depended on it and I got rejected by a big bank I was already using, I'd find the smallest local bank that does SBA loans.

Like in Carthage or something and just call the banks main number & ask if they'd finance me.

Second death in Nacogdoches - hard on the heels of the first. Knowing a lot of people in the hospital community, this is tough for them.
