Update on the week so far around the league...
McNeese got their first DI win of the year, taking down UMKC 82-73
Lamar took down Southern University - New Orleans 73-56 last night, while Nicholls blasted Carver College 118-44.
One game on the slate for tonight as Howard Payne rolls into Abilene to face the Wildcats.

UCA has fired Russ Pennell. Ouch.
Wowzers. What is the benefit of firing right before conference play? Maybe getting someone in there to start working with kids and pretty much ditching this season? Isn't HBU 0-8 or something? I could see firing right after season but can't see how this helps the students.

Reports that the "rumor" isn't true.
The latest report is that he is on indefinite leave of absence, but still an employee.

Abilene with the big shocker tonight trouncing Nicholls from start to finish. Forced a lot of turnovers and abused Nicholls in the paint. ACU has quietly won 5 straight, albeit against bad competition. This win however was a good one for the Wildcats. Might have a darkhorse out west...
HBU playing New Mexico (KP: #87) tough after being slaughtered by us.
Not to in any way take away from our beating Duke and all, but that's why college basketball is so awesome. Even the best team can have a bad game making them vulnerable to even a lower tier mid major.
New Mexico scored 61 in the second to win by 19. Oh well. Still winless.

With the exception of Sam, SFA, and maybe Nicholls or ACU, the SLC is crap this season. I don't want to hear Keller, or any SLC coach talking about how tough this conference is. It's simply awful. 31 of 32 in RPI.

Keller made his speech about a two bid Southland, and then the Southland has done everything possible to prove him wrong. Right now everyone else in the SLC is a 16 seed with Nicholls and Sam maybe being able to grab a 15. The SLC needs SFA to win bad.

There are no quality losses in the SLC, which is why it took us going undefeated to get a 12 seed, and will probably take us going undefeated again to get a 13 seed or better this year. It doesn't matter how hard it is to win that many games in a row against any competition, it's still bad competition.

Hate to say but no matter how bad the SLC is, no coach is going to say what a weak, easy conference we play in as that won't get them anywhere with the conference or their own school.
Absolutely the worst in the land. None of the recent additions have helped remedy the situation. I've argued for a revamped conference. It's complicated but could be done.

I'd describe it more as an oxymoron than a lie. Lol
Did anyone catch the Southland 's top 20 from the decade? Numbers 11 thru 20 make absolutely no mention of SFA. Curious to see what they list tomorrow. Imma be super upset if we aren't listed on 4 or 5 of the remaining countdown and suggest we do our own coutdown if not & @ them like crazy. Because I'm petty like that.
