Currently every three loss team in the nation has a win over an AP #1 team this year.

Who you beat means more than record. Beating a lot of bad teams does not help us at all. We were expected to win all the SLC games against sub 200+ ranked team. Unfortunately we lost to TAMU-CC and we were not able to beat Alabama which would have probably put us in the rankings. Honestly, I like the projected seeding at a 12 or maybe an 11 as this gives us the best shot at a sweet 16 appearance. We would probably play a power conference team that has some warts we can expose.

Didn't break through...#26 with 75 points...Iowa is #25 with 111

Leapfrogged by Butler and West Virginia...Houston and Illinois hang on to their spots

Butler was ahead of us in voting last week and had two strong wins. West Virginia beat Baylor and was just behind us in voting. Seems pretty fair.

Personally I don't see us grabbing a spot since it's down to conference tournaments. I guess a huge upset against Butler or Houston in their tourneys could give us a shot if everyone below us does nothing special. Like the Volleyball team, 26 is pretty awesome. More than any of expected this year.

Not surprising, but even our league doesn't know the difference between votes and points.

Just imagine for a second though. Had we not lost to Corpus there's a chance we would be in the top 20 by now. Just based on our momentum at the time and our momentum now, had we not taken that MASSIVE plunge we would've been ranked for probably a month or so.

Now imagine what that brings to the school. A top 25 ranking generates more interest than the already growing interest we are getting. Maybe some of those ESPN+ or ESPN3 games are now ESPNU games. Maybe FSSW decides they want to televise our game. The exposure would've been monumental and I would be willing to bet that the Coliseum wouldn't have an empty seat for those nationally televised home games.

But alas, that's just a hypothetical now.

But wait. This team is built to last. We are losing 3 people on a team that has so many moving parts and such a deep bench that this team will just reload next year, not rebuild. We could potentially be better next year with these young guys riding this wave into next year.

So maybe my dream isn't dead yet

Yeah a top 25 ranking would have been huge. It would have meant a lot more to us than Iowa or Butler. Even if it had happened this week. But we would have been eventually ranked if we didn't take the L to CC. I remember a couple of years ago when we went 17-1 with Walkup and we were so close to being ranked but CC also messed that up.

Now its time to win the next 2 games and make some noise

Ahead of some pretty decent programs - Wake, Miami, Pitt, VT, A&M, Bradley, Belmont - to name a few. A nice springboard for next year. Imagine what it could have been if we had been in a decent conference.

Ok twitter jacks, let's get our guys on the AP Top 25. No idea if this will work, but half these guys appear to be pulling names out of a hat for the last 3 to 5 slots, so let's give put SFA top of mind.

Awesome!

I've got half of their emails. Gonna drop them all the Bain video tonight along with some stats and ask for their vote.

We'll see if this works.

He had us at #20 last week to though, so no additional points really here.

Coaches poll. Got 15 points in the final which is #30 in the nation.

SFA 15 points, Texas Tech 8 points.

Nothing more to say about that.

AP Poll should be dropping in about 15 minutes. I don't think we'll make it unfortunately. Nobody got to see us play, and don't see many voters dropping the teams in front of us. Even though Iowa is pretty average at #25, Luka Garza has been getting a ton of attention the last week as the Player of the Year. That's probably enough in itself to keep them ranked without playing.

Finished at #26.

Picked up a couple points but still 30 short of being ranked. Not surprising. We didn't play since the last poll and no ranked team lost in the week. No reason for most to change picks. 26 is higher than we've been. A good year.
sfa17

Yeah, 26 just doesn't have the same ring to it as 25. But we can hopefully get it done next year.

From the ESPN article on the Final Top 25 Poll:

BEST OF THE REST

The first two teams outside the poll were two teams with a good chance to have been NCAA tournament darlings -- or break a whole lot of brackets. Stephen F. Austin was 28-3 with a win over Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium in November. East Tennessee State went 30-4 and went toe-to-toe with the Jayhawks before losing at Allen Fieldhouse.

And here's the good news: If we can keep the momentum next year, as we all expect, we should climb into the Top 25 fairly early with any success in the non-conference.

Part of the problem this year was we started at #288 in KenPom due to a subpar 2018-2019 season. Next year, we should start under #100. This will make the climb for recognition much less steep than this year.

Make no mistake, even a #26 is very good for us. It will help recruiting. But we have to continue to earn that recognition.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
We will have our chances. I'm assuming 3-4 P5 games (2 SEC + 1 or 2 more). Get a couple more mid-high major type games (Sun Belt, WAC, AAC?). Probably a combo of 3 NAIA/DII/DIII games...
SFASawmillGuy
How long do you want to ignore this user?
You're right. We are likely to be ranked very early if we can open strong. We don't need any bad losses though. No low major losses and a winning record against high majors.

Mid-major Madness running some kind of simulated tournament. SFA is a 3 seed. Guess you can follow along if you want.

We don't have a chance if they're going by KenPom numbers.
