Jacks lose game two 4-2.

In the category of good wins, Jacks take game three of the series 3-0. Kubo goes six shutout innings, giving up four hits, with one walk, and three K's. Rodriguez, Starks, and Gamez finish the shutout.

Kubo came into the game with a 7.12 ERA. A&M-Corpus is a good hitting team. Jacks won this one they have to win, with pitching and defense.

Awesome. Cardenas seems to get the most out of his talent.

I'd like for that to eventually translate into consistently though. He's always had good talent and good games. But his tenure has been massively inconsistent in terms of success.

I know before you say we don't have much to work with because of our facilities but eventually it'd be nice to see us competing for a conference title.

Upcoming, five games in six days.

First is in Waco on Tuesday against #19 Baylor. This one has a high probability of being ugly. We simply don't have the quality depth to compete while resting most of our starters, and all of our top pitchers.

Wednesday is a rain out make up game at home against Prairie View. PV is 8-9 in SWAC play. Decent hitting team. Not a good pitching team. Toss up.

Important three game weekend home series against sixth place NSU. At 11-7, Jacks are tied for fourth. NSU, much like SFA, relies primarily on pitching and defense.

The part that surprised, and disappointed, was that both Stobart and Rodriguez pitched, and were ineffective.

It was not going well.

SFA lost a game to Mother Nature. La Tech lost much more.

Terrible news.

This has been a destructive tornado season thus far, more active than anything I remember.

SFA has been fortunately out of the bullseye on the biggest of the storms, but it's been close.

Wow. Simply, wow.

Hopefully after a win this time.

Anybody going to the Saturday game, note that the start time was moved up to 12:30. No doubt that is to get it complete well before spring football. Unfortunate that it overlaps with the softball senior day that starts at noon.

Gamez can't close the ninth with a four run lead. Roth comes in for the last out with the tying run on first.

Palmer goes six innings for the win. He battled with the strike zone more than usual which ran his pitch count up.

And, the fireworks are much better after a win. They put on a good show. Wish attendance was better.

We simply couldn't be at both fields at the same time. NSU up 6-0 after six.

Kubo has an interesting top first.

Single, CS, BB, picked off, hbp, sharp single to left thrown out trying to take second.

NSU gets two in the top of the third with a two out walk, triple to right field corner, and a seeing eye ground ball single.

Lumberjack bats are living up to their..230 season average.

And, just like that, the Jacks use four singles, sac fly, and an NSU error to plate 4.

Damn. Rodriquez threw two pitches and called for the trainer. No idea what it is, but he is out. This could be a huge loss, and not just today.

Starks on.

After this weekend, the Jacks at 13-8 are tied for third with UCA and UIW, and one game back of first place SLU and Sam.

Series remaining are on the road at McNeese and Nicholls, and at home against UNO. All three are bottom half of the standings teams.

We seriously need Rodriguez, and his team best ERA, to be okay.

Ouch! We can only hope that he is going to be OK.

Lima is the only starter in the bunch, and him starting is more recent.

Sgambelluri, with his 7.03 ERA, is starting.

Sgambelluri goes seven with no BB, 1 hit, and 11 K's. A very efficient 63 pitches. Dropped his season ERA down to 4.46.

Jacks get swept by a team that was outside the top eight. Can't beat McNeese for some reason.
