Covington gives up the tying run when he doesn't cover first on a ground ball to the first basemen. Jacks score three in the bottom of the sixth with help from sloppy fielding by HBU. 4-1 after six.
Jacks go to 5-0 with a 4-2 win.
Incredible start to the season.

In case you missed it, Sam lost yesterday to UIW 8-2, so SFA is alone in first place.
With our lack of a third starter, today is the day the entire pitching staff goes. Except for Palmer and Covington of course. Gamez went 2.1, one hit ball, for the save, yesterday so not sure if he is available. Stobart gets the start.

After three, Jacks up 1-0 on a solo shot by Vasquez. Stobart had a rough first, but very efficient next two innings. Only thrown 27 pitches through three.

- Prarie View is a bad baseball team. Their pitching is really rough. Their starter did reasonably good. After that though....
- As I have mentioned elsewhere, SFA has a depth issue. After the starting CF was subbed, six of the nine players have BA's below the Mendoza line. Two of the six are regular starters. Cardenas has said that these mid-week games are the opportunity for guys to show they deserve playing time. Pitching wise, Hearn started and was mediocre. Kubo subbed and was at best mediocre. After them, Adams, Grabowske, and Starks shut PV down.
Jacks go to 12-10 on the season. Big three game series in Conway this weekend.
Tomorrow night is the soft opening for lights at the ballpark. Night games coming back to Nac soon.
Big series starts tonight for the Jacks against UCA.
Hopefully they can keep the momentum rolling in conference play.

Today's game is a match up of 6'3" freshmen lefties. SFA's Covington comes in with a 1.66 ERA, while UCA's Cameron has a 1.91 ERA. The team that plays the best defense and makes the most of limited scoring opportunities takes this one.

Ugly yesterday and today, offense is really struggling this year.
Sam lost one to UNO so we're tied for first at 7-2.

Starting pitchers were ineffective both yesterday and today. Beyond Kubo and Starks today, the bullpen was good. Nine hits today, but not timely with eight LOB. Going to be a long ride home from Conway.PurpleOut said:

Big home series coming up against SLU. It is early to call it must win, but taking two of three would keep us in the hunt.

Vasquez is really hitting lately. Uhse is a freshman that started hot, then went into a bit of a slump. Good to see him hit again.

Mid week games expose the fact that we have zero depth at pitcher. And, I get to listen to obnoxious UH fans sitting behind us. Disgusted.
No depth batting or in the field either. Had a left fielder circle a fly ball and had it drop about eight feet from him. Cardenas has subbed all the usual starters. Looking like a bad high school team.
Many options for the headline. My favorite is "Andy Pettite witnesses debacle at Jaycee Field"
