I know at this point we will never see Thomas in the NBA (still blows my mind) but I can never find contract info on him other than extension in years. Not trying to be nosey, but just wondering what kind of living he is making overseas?

Max Greek league salary is 2.5 mil.

Avg salary is 60-250k per year. I did see one number from Walkup, secondary source, that said 560k per year in 2021.

I love that first sentence. Also they try to play Luka's low scoring on just being tired. But Walkup was the one guarding him.

Australia beat Spain today, so Greece has to beat Spain on Monday if they want a chance to move on.

Made a couple of key shots. That steal towards the end of the game, gave them a shot. He wasn't his best, but he wasn't bad. To the contrary, he had stretches where he was more than holding his own.

This ends any chance Greece had of moving on, but they do have one more game against Australia.

Canada beats Australia 93-83 and has the easiest path to the playoff rounds from Group A.

That was a super tough group to get out of. Greece should be proud of how they played.

The Greeks still have a pulse! They survived a comeback by Australia in the 4th quarter to pull out an upset win over the Aussies.

Walkup had by far his best game in the Olympics with 18 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds. He looked fabulous in this one. Shot 50% from the field on 7 for 14.

If I understand the Olympics MBB points system, Greece has a chance of moving into a tiebreaker and moving on to the playoffs if they win the tiebreaker. I didn't think that was possible.

It shouldn't be overlooked that Canada, Spain, and Australia are the three teams that people thought could stand in the way of the US. Greece has competed and could have won every game. This is a plucky team and when Walkup is really going then I think they can beat anyone.

Having confidence against NBA players is his biggest hurdle.

Canada eliminated Spain getting Australia into the next round. Now Serbia has to beat a strong South Sudan team by more than two points tomorrow for Greece to advance as the 8th seed.

South Sudan's journey to even get to the Olympics is AMAZING. To say that little country is dirt poor in an understatement. War torn. Only obtained their independence from Sudan about 10 years ago. Almost no infrastructure in the country. Only one paved highway in the entire country. No trains. Only one big city with one airport. The highest mortality rate of newborns in the world, since most births are rural and assisted only by untrained friends of the mothers. Very few doctors and medical facilities. Average age in the country is 18. Education is almost non-existant due to lack of schools and teachers.

Almost all of their players' families had previously fled the country to various other ones due to war and poverty, so their coach had to convince them to come back to play for South Sudan. They finished (I believe) 17th in the Olympic qualifying tournament, but they made the Olympics because they were the highest ranked African team.

Win or lose, I'm pulling for those guys!

Serbia won by 11. Looks like Greece will get Germany in the quarterfinals. Another tough game, but a good next round matchup.
