I plan on being at AC tomorrow for some of their fourteen innings. Don't know how much I will learn, but looking forward to being at the ballpark.
I'm hearing that they are looking really good and that our offense will be very good this year.

I sure hope so. I would like to see some of this "capital campaign" directed toward baseball. Fingers crossed.

I didn't realize there was no crossover from baseball. Not playing any of the West Division. This is stupid.

They have been clear all along which sports would crossover and which would not. Costs.

To be fair, it is kind of stupid that there are none. In all the sports there should probably be like 1 or 2 games against the far away teams. Gives some travel experience to the players and also create a familiarity within the two divisions for the conference tournament.

Cardenas always has his guys ready to play. It comes down to pitching ? Right?
Moreso depth. Baseball usually starts relatively strong but really goes downhill quickly. We usually have 1 or 2 really good starting pitchers. A few guys who can really hit it. And some good fielders. And we usually put our best lineup out there when we play our money games which is why we're so good at getting those upsets.
But overall we just never have the depth to maintain it throughout a full season/hard fought game.

I wish him the best of luck but seriouslyโฆ.a division 1 school not making an effort to get a better/more experienced coach in charge of recruiting is not a good lookโฆ.

It makes perfect sense to just slide your existing volunteer coach into the other role for continuity.

Not a long career, but it looks like he was a steal as a volunteer assistant. Three seasons as an assistant at UNO before coming to SFA as a volunteer assistant. He has four years at DI and four years at JUCO. A little green, but seems to have earned his stripes.
Cardenas is very vocal about adding more paid assistants at the DI level. Maybe this is his way of rewarding a guy that has worked for free for a year and earned the job...
