It almost seems at this point that Keller wanted out. Was he as bad as it appears at the end? I know getting fired looks bad but hey, we had to pay him the rest of his contract and now he has some time to network with his coaching buddies! Just a thought...

I've said this to some other people but I truly believe he was burnt out.

Burnout happens in any job, and obviously being a head coach is one of the most stressful jobs you can have. Over the past couple of seasons there have been plenty of times he's been under immense pressure and had bad luck with injuries and/or the ball just not falling his way.

This season seemed different. Every other year, he still seemed fired up, he seemed ready to go. If we were down, we didn't seem out because he found a way to motivate his players to continue giving it their all and pull out some wins we probably shouldn't have gotten.

But this season seemed like he didn't have that fire anymore. Like maybe he was tired. Unfortunately when burnout happens in any other job, you can normally take some time, get your head right, and come back rejuvenated. You can't do that as a head coach.

I think Keller will find another home and land on his feet running after some well deserved time with his family to destress. I think he is still a good coach and will find success when he finds a new home. But I think the pressures and bad luck he had here at SFA in the past few years broke him to the point the result of this season happened.

This is not a jab at him at all. It's a 100% human and understandable thing to happen and doesn't mean anything negative about him. Sometimes a change can be good for both parties and I think that will be what happens here.

He needs a change in scenery, and we needed a change in leadership. I think both parties will come back stronger because of it.

I really like how the acting coach is taking the same players who were losing and turning them into winners. I know they won't win every remaining SLC game, but if they go 3-3, they are probably in the SLC tournament.

When will the search for the new coach officially begin?
