We should be deep in almost every position. Looking for Trae to make another evolution forward. D-Line looks fabulous and the O-Line is starting to gel.

I guess you could make the argument that these were not BIG 12 or SEC teams in 2020, but you can see compared to the past, how we are now starting to actually be competitive (with the exception of SMU) against FBS teams.

2020
14-17 @UTEP (4TH QUARTER) 14-24 (FINAL)

You will see a little more of this... Great kid!! Not sure of his situation with not playing this year.

I do know some of the players that decided to sit out this fall season because of Covid reasons found their scholarship/roster spot not in the plans for the next season..Scholarships are only renewable every year... Budgets are tight now a days.. Hate to see Marcus go and wish him success..

Don't know, but he is not a happy guy right now. Example.

Noticed the other day that NMSU is apparently playing some Spring games.

Wonder if that could be our spring game we're planning on.

Perhaps, but the discussion I heard was that we wanted it to be a home game. NMSU isn't coming to Nacogdoches.

Porter is a good one. Had a game his junior year vs, Alto in which he rushed for 420 yards and six TD's. But the jump from HS Class 2-A to FCS football may require a year of redshirting.

The fall 2021 season is probably "still in the works". With us leaving the SLC I'm sure it will be a real circus. Guessing we'll be fortunate to find 2-3 SLC squads that want to play us. Maybe a game against SUU or Dixie. Probably one against Tarleton. Anyone's guess.

I'm gonna guess we get Lamar, SHSU, ACU, Tarleton, SUU, and Dixie for sure...I wouldn't be shocked to see a potential 14th team on that list as well...As for SLC games, I hope NWST stays on the schedule, but that's about it...
SFASawmillGuy
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm sure we get our annual Big Sky opponent scheduled, probably a home D2 game, an FBS payday game, non conference NWST game, Lamar, SHSU, ACU, SUU, Tarleton, and Dixie St. That would leave room for one more non conference game, which I would like to be a home game against a top tier FCS team we could bill as a big matchup. Maybe SDSU and have it be the battle of the Jacks.

Sounds like our Spring game will be on 4/17 and there may be already an opponent close to being finalized.

I hope it's NOT Sam. I would like to have a big crowd for the Fall version of the Battle of the Piney Woods. Carthel's 21' edition may be able to meet and beat Sam

Agreed. I don't think I want it to be any Southland school to be honest. I'd like to play a D1 non-conference opponent.

Same. Let's find someone fun and not someone we'll hear about for the next 20 years if we lose it.

I'm already all in on fall.

If we are just playing ONE game, I would like it to be a modest D2 (if we can find one). It seems to me that putting our guys up against a squad that's played more than 1 game, could be a real negative experience.
TallTexan

I wouldn't be mad if it was another team only playing 1 game.

Agree. This is to be an upgraded, end of spring practice game. It's not a regular season game. Everything in the fall, and this spring, is in preparation for 2021. Confident it won't be a D1 team.

I think the plan is for it to in fact be a FCS opponent. Most of them will be playing. Now do our graduated players get to play in it or not?

Just realized this morning that I have been working with Myles Heard's mother for a year and a half! She told me that he LOVES going to SFA! I asked how he likes Carthel and she said "Oh Tiffany, he loves the coaching staff!" I asked her to tell him that we are always cheering him on and that we can't wait for football in the new conference...She said he loves the support
