Maybe they win it all now that they are a lower seed instead of the top seed when we always lose.
Just a recap on the season.
We won 3 games against 8th, 9th, and 11th placed teams.
Tied : 5th, 6th, and 10th place teams.
Lost: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 12th.
7th seems the right spot for us.

Agree, but right to point out that losses to 3rd and 4th were in 2OT. The ties with 5th and 10th were also 2OT matches. Until last night, the team struggled mightily to score. Ten goals all season before the five against Sam. Point being, a goal here or there and the record would have been quite different.nacluth said:

Lol we found the secret to success in soccer, instead of being the top seed, be the near to last seed. HBU got a taste of their own medicine.
ACU just knocked UCA off 1-0. So now the #1 and #2 seed are gone. Now if we can take down the #3 to face the #4!

ACU dominated the regular season champion UCA outshooting them 14-7, 7-3 on goal.
Looking much better than Lamar right now. Most annoying announcer ever though.

Lamar equalizes on a really nice cross for a header in the goal.
Lamar is a good ball handling team. We are very sloppy in our passes, but we are playing with much more urgency. A solid first half for us protecting our defense from having to bear the burden of the game. Let's go Ladyjacks!

In a short period of time Abilene has become more than competitive in the tertiary sports. They have commitment, gobs of money and some bright folks. Frankly they'd be competitive in Conference USA with a few more years of seasoning.
Challenges abound for SFA from a facilities perspective.
1. Need a real soccer field etc.
2. Homer Bryce needs updating. Field house needs expansion.
3. Baseball needs on campus venue.
4. Track and Field need a "field house" etc.
About $100 million of spend there. I don't think much of it will happen before 2021. Meanwhile ACU positions itself for CUSA or others.

I don't think ACU will be looking at leaving for a LONG time. We've done some nice things but it's way too early to think about leaving for another conference. I hope SFA is able to get those upgrades. Frankly the fact that you're the most successful athletic program in the SLC even with the challenges you've mentioned is amazing.BigJack85 said:

Downed 3-1. Really can't say I expected much different with the season we had, but we're now 0-5 in SLC title games in the Crittenden era with NCAA berths on the line. Not remotely intimating that we have a coaching problem. 5 title games in 6 years is impressive, but we need to clear that hurdle in a big way.
To be clear... very clear. I am neither advocating or predicting an ACU exit from the SLC. I am simply saying that they are starting g strong and have made immense progress in a short period of time.
Just in a cursory sense I'd guess our facilities rank about 4th or 5th in the SLC. If we took care of soccer and baseball we'd be 2nd or 3rd. The new basketball performance center should end any discussion regarding the state of our basketball facilities..... hope the property purchase that's being considered includes the land north of the commuter lot. Can you say baseball or soccer facility????

Kudos to the soccer team for the two tournament wins. Beyond that, seventh place is not our standard. We have slipped in this sport, not that the others have gotten much better.

I agree Our pedigree suggests that 3rd or 4th is underachieving. Wally has some quality in his sophomores and juniors. Should be a solid squad next year.
