I like this highlight video of Musaka. He is really long and moves very well for his size. He looks very similar too Sylla but a lot better basketball player.
quick and runs the floor well for a big. Nice highlights.

I think we are better with the 6'6"-6'9" guys because we have had much better luck with those type players.

I think it's just selection bias. More guys in that 6'6 to 6'9 range, so more guys who are decently talented drip down to our level.

6'11 and talented and you can transfer to 4 P5 schools in 4 years if you want.

you talking about here on the forum? lol

No I think we have just the right number here. We need more since we also have to coach football, soccer, baseball, and track.

But we have a DOB, 4 assistants and an HC by my count. Or am I off?

Speaking of which, Texan, you've been AWOL a lot lately here at the Sawmill. The average athletics IQ on here has plummeted while you've been gone. Getting recruited for a position on a Power Five school's staff?

Lol busy developing the recruiting class of 2040/2041. These kids won't let me sit down.

G: LATEEF PATRICK JR. 6-2 (JR.) Milton, Massachusetts (Milton/Trinidad State)
Had interest from California, Duquesne, UMass, UNLV, USF, Washington State, Murray State, Quinnipiac, North Texas, St. Bonaventure, Oakland, Mercer, Utah Valley, NMSU, Bryant, Northeastern,

- 2X All-American
- Top 10 JUCO Scorer

As a true freshman he scored a season high 37 points versus North Platte CC. (hit eight 3-pointers)
Lateef scored 20 or more points in 11 games that season, and scored over 30 points three times.

His sophomore season he shot almost 40% from 3-point range, and started off the season with back to back 30 point games (33 against Colby CC and 36 against New Mexico JC). Scored over 20 points in 24 games, 8 of those with 30 or more and two with 40 or more. Had a season high 46 points against McCook CC.

Hit 10 three pointers against Lamar CC.

As much as yall want a big in the offense. I feel like the Coach is going a different route. Im all for more shooters and play makers than playing a big to drive in. We saw it work for UTA for a season. If the combo G/F can be the big to drive in. It still works. Love the signing of Lateef. Get some people who can always shoot the ball. Then play big when you need too. College basketball landscape scoring has changed drastically just like the NBA.

So just to interject after working with athletics here at TJC, heights are more often than not exaggerated by 2-3 inches so we still need some height.
I look most of our guards in the eye and I'm 5'11" and most of them are listed at 6'1"-6'2"! I've stood next to Christmas and there's no way he is 6'5" but then again DayDay could play with anyone under the basket so what do I know! lol

Sitting at 11 which is a great place to be if we can stay healthy. I sure wouldn't mind one more just for safety, but looks like we've got a team that should be exciting.

With 15 scholarships available how many more players do we need? Another big or a wing with some height? Room for a couple more?

That 83% from the line is almost an afterthought when looking at his other stats, but it's better than anyone's we've had in a while. This past Jacks season is still fresh enough in our memories to recall the god-awful FT shooting games we had and the games we lost because of it.

With our history of injuries , it feels like we need at least 13.

Yes, finally a Demetrious Floyd type player that can go off from 3-point range.

Floyd shot 42.1% behind the arc in his 2 seasons at SFA after coming up from the JUCO ranks, which was better than his 30.0% percentage at Chipola College.

Lateef Patrick Jr. is coming in shooting 40% from the JUCO ranks, so does he dare shoot even better at SFA and be up to a 45% perimeter shooter from 3?

He hit 90 three-pointers in 2023-24, and 119 three pointers in 2024-25 for a total of 209 from behind the arc with an average of just over 3 three-pointers a game in his 66 career games at Trinidad State where he also hit 50% or better from behind the arc in 16 games. On a side note in his freshman season it was not until the 10th game of the season before he miss his first free throw, he was 19 of 19.

SFA in 2024-25 hit 191 3-pointers out of 659 (29%) for the entire team.

Coach B. said he was going to recruit players who wanted to be at SFA, and who could shoot.

Possible line up

G:#5 KEON THOMPSON 6-1 (SR.) FG:47%
G:#00 LATEEF PATRICK JR. 6-2 (JR.) FG:48.1%
G/F:#00 GEDIMINAS ALISAS 6-6 (JR.) FG:67.4%
G/F:#00 CHRISTIAN GREEN 6-6 (JR.) FG:49%
F:#00 JERALD COLONEL 6-9 (SR.) FG:58%

Yeah that looks like a great lineup but Coach B is probably going to sign two more players. Hopefully they are starters that can make this team even deeper in talent.

If that's your starting five then Mohammed would instantly become a candidate for Sixth Man of the Year. A nice problem to have.

BTW, is anyone we've signed a pure PG? Thompson can't do it alone.

I look for the starting five to be a mix for a while. My player to watch(don't bring up my track record) is Melvin. Thinking he may make a substantial impact by mid season.
