Isaac, in that piece you said we held the tiebreaker over UNO. What is the tiebreaker that we hold? I thought since we split the home and home that it goes to overall record. I must have made that up, can you clear up the confusion in case another miracle happens this week.

So bear with me because this gets a little bit complicated... but basically, if two teams are tied and split the regular season series, you go to their record against highest seeded team that each team played twice. In our case, that doesn't exist because top to bottom we never both played any team twice. So next is the record against the highest seeded team each team played at all, regardless of how many times. SFA and UNO both beat A&M-CC and Houston Baptist. But SFA's 2-0 against A&M-CC would be seen as better than UNO's 1-0 record. That effectively breaks the tie.

Even if it didn't, this scenario assumes SFA wins on Saturday - they probably won't be in a tie otherwise. And if they win, they'll own a 1-1 record against Sam Houston, whereas UNO will be 0-1. That would break the tie in SFA's favor again.

Should Sam Houston State keep losing (and we assume they will on Saturday) to drop down the seeding, it would make no difference since all the teams within two games (UCA, ACU, SELA, Nicholls, Lamar) have all been beaten by both SFA and UNO.

Confused yet? Me too.... I'll have an article up today about these scenarios.
