One day after leading the Thundering Heard to a Sun Belt Conference Championship, former Marshall Head Coach Charles Huff took the head coaching position at Southern Miss which has caused the “entire” Marshall football team to consider entering the transfer portal. pic.twitter.com/Dq58qcYGXt

And 2024 SFA home opponent UC Davis is trailing South Dakota by a touchdown midway through the third.
Our schedule next year will be considerably more impressive.

As of two days ago there were 6,311 active football players in the NCAA transfer portal. 2,073 are from FBS schools and 1,639 from FCS schools.
So, what's wrong with that? Here's what...There aren't 6,311 spots on teams available, much less 6,311 scholarships available.
And that does not count JUCO/NAIA/D2/D3 players looking to move up.
Diving into the portal is a heck of a gamble for a lot of guys, and great many of them are going to end up with a lump of coal in their stockings.
How many are in the portal because they got cut? In other words, it's not their choice to be there.SFA Jack Fanatic said:

UIW QB Zach Calzada headed to the SEC and Kentucky.
Former Idaho star QB now goes to UIW, a QB's dream. Produced Cam Ward, and Zach Calzada who just transferred out revived his career there in 2024. McCoy now looks to do the same. Rooting for him. https://t.co/i3SHD25ZBW

Also hired Phil Longo as HC. Was previously OC there before OC stints at Ole Miss, North Carolina, and most recently Wisconsin.SFASawmillGuy said:

They played hardly anyone though lol. Give me a break. Hardest teams were UCF and TX State. Get a real schedule and then we will talk. 6 One score games. I think thats hardly something to celebrate.SFASawmillGuy said:

Lmao. Hardly. We won't talk about the Phantom False start against East Texas A&M. That took away a Touchdown with a minute left to play. Sure SFA needs to schdeule some better OOC but scheule some tougher D1 FBS and I'll buy into the Hype.StroKat said:
SFA played something called North American and lost to East Texas A&M. Sam has lapped y'all.

Still hoping the rivalry gets renewed for good someday. Even as lopsided as it became, the hatred was the literal embodiment of a college football rivalry. Can't wait for the day the battle resumes.
Still good on y'all. Really impressed with how fast y'all found success, even with an undeniably favorable schedule, 10 wins is hard to do at the FBS level no matter what.
That being said, **** y'all.

The gold standard of not just the FCS, but all non P5 football. We should sit Weaver, McBroom, and Carthel down in front of that game and tell them "that, that's what we want SFA football to be like". The sold out crowd louder than 90% of college football. The high level of play. The expectation of a national title every year.
