Watched UTRGV vs North American. NAU got within 5 , in the second half. UTRGV is not good.

Both GCU and UTRGV had monster second halves, but GCU didn't have to overcome the 34 points UTRGV did.

GCU's starting five is really good but they don't have much depth or so it seems.

Sydney Curry is pretty good. He had 10 points and 10 rebounds. They started him in the second, half partly because he was playing well and partly to light a fire under their starting center. He isn't tall but he is hard to move out of the paint. They also have a couple of guys coming off injury. By the time the Jack's play them, they may have more depth. They keep throwing an Oregon transfer out there (Luk Wur I think) and I don't think he is very good. I'm not sure why Drew throws him out there. They have other guys I think are much better but I'm no coach. Maybe his defense is better.

BTW Grant-Foster scored 25 and led them again. NDST had a dude score 25 too. He and Grant-Foster seemed to get caught up in trash talking with each other.

A mixed bag for Avery Brittingham...

Even though the UTA Lady Mavs are a paltry 1-7 on the young season, former Ladyjack AB leads her team in almost every statistical category... points 12.5, rebounds 8.9, assists 2.8, and steals 1.8.

First NET rankings debuted today. SFA premieres in second in the WAC at 101. WAC overall is currently the 12th best conference. (The little number is the end of last year's ranking.)

We watched the second half of the GCU game. They are very talented, and very well coached. It was enjoyable to watch quality basketball.

GCU MBB goes to Liberty and ends their 22 game home win streak. I have to admit, they have had themselves a week.

UT Arlington transfer Philip Russell made his debut today and scored 28 as UTA beat Navy by three.

Last night Tarelton was beating GCU by 9 with 6:30 to go in the first half. They didn't score again until two minutes into the second half. GCU scored 25 points in the meantime.

After that 8:30 scoring drought, Tarleton had another 7:40 scoring drought with 10 minutes left in the game. That's two scoreless droughts almost as long as an entire half. GCU destroyed them by 26 points.

On the WAC women's side, 1-15 Seattle had a chance to go into 15-3 WAC leader GCU and knock them off. But they blew it. SU had a 3 point lead with 20 seconds left in the first OT but a player fouled a 3-pint shooter who then sank the free throws to tie the game. GCU then controlled the 2nd OT and won 84-73. Dang it!

Down goes GCU!! Seattle U erases a late 7 point deficit with a 19-5 run to close the game and win 86-79

Nobody can win on the road in the WAC, better take care of business at home.

Tarleton down 17 with ten to go at UTRGV and won by four. RV folded like a cheap tent.
