We have the potential (based on the pillow soft start of the schedule) we could start 9-1 8-2. Maybe that would help us gain momentum.

With the starters coming back and the offense that was recruited, I'm seeing a possible 30 win season, no worse than 25 with this schedule, it would do wonders to get the program used to winning.

This conference is getting lots of respect in baseball, becoming a real riser in the rankings and getting more and more national exposure with the success of Lamar, SLU, and UTRGV.

#1 LSUS defeated by #25 Central Methodist 4-3, snapping the Pilots incredible 65 game win streak in NAIA baseball.

The streak almost ended the game before against #19 MACU with LSUS down by 3 in the bottom of the 7th (in a 7 inning game) when they walked it off scoring 4.

Football scores in the NAIA

TAMUT scores so far
W 14-13
L 16-15
W 16-3
L 9-2
W 16-5
W 26-16 against #4 Hope International

151 total runs in the first 6 games of the season, the pitching is lacking in the NAIA ranks, and so many pitching changes during the game.

I assume this is A&M Texarkana? That TAMUT thing is foreign to me.

Yes, that is correct Texarkana NAIA in the Red River Conference

And like SFA, they play their ball at a city facility, at George Dobson Field in Spring Lake Park.

Got some new stands and admission is free, just walk right on in and sit where you want.

Sometimes they can't use the field and have to play out at Hooks High School out on I-30.

But that all changes next season when they move into the their new $40M Red River Credit Union Athletes Complex, on campus.

Football coming in 2027 (already secured an invitation to play in the Lone Star Conference), with a new football stadium that should be ready for the 2028 season, as Texarkana makes the jump to NCAA Div. II, Coach Joshua Eargle coming over from UTEP, where he was the recruiting coordinator and TE Coach, just wrapped up his first recruiting class at Texarkana signing 68 players (35 from East Texas)

Bowl Shape design, 6,000 capacity, modern artificial turf, VIP suites, club level seating, will house a local coffee shop and pizza restaurant, and a local FEMA funded storm shelter for up to 1,000 people during extreme weather.

I feel like I am watching what A&M is doing for Texarkana athletics, is what UT will be doing for SFA athletics in the near future, but on a bigger scale of course.

I'm curious how these facilities are being funded.

  • Funding Sources: The project relies on private philanthropy, community fundraising, and support from government agencies, including funding for a tornado-safe room from the Texas Division of Emergency Management, that involves a federal grant for $16.4M.
  • Initial Capital: As of early 2025, roughly $13-$14 million was secured to initiate the project.
  • University & System Funds: In the FY 2026 TAMUT Budget, the A&M System officially lists the
  • Athletics Complex as an approved project with a planning amount of $23 million. A significant portion of this (over $15 million) is categorized under university-managed funding and bonds.
  • Funding Gap: Approximately $20 million more was needed at the time of the groundbreaking in February 2025 to complete the project, with continued efforts to raise funds.
  • Timeline: The project began in early 2025, with completion expected within 16-18 months to support the university's transition to NCAA Division II and the launch of new sports, including football by 2027-2028.
  • Fall 2024: Added competitive cheer and dance, coed varsity esports, and beach volleyball.
  • Fall 2025: Launching men's and women's golf, bowling, lacrosse, and indoor/outdoor track and field.
  • 2027-2028: Football and women's flag football teams are scheduled to begin competition, with football aiming for its first game in Fall 2027.
A&M-Texarkana officially started their AD program in 2014, with men's and women's tennis

2015-2017: The department expanded rapidly, adding baseball (2015), men's soccer (2016), and softball (2017).

2019: Men's and women's basketball were introduced for the 2019-2020 academic year.

2024-2025: A massive expansion added sports like beach volleyball, esports, golf, and track and field, nearly doubling the total number of varsity programs.

And finally 2027 the Eagles will play their first football game, at Texas High in Texarkana while the stadium is under construction scheduled to be ready by 2028 season.

So far...

2023 Women's Basketball RRAC Champions NAIA Tournament, making it to the second round (29-2 record)

I'm as optimistic about SFA baseball, as I can remember.

The schedule is reasonable and we "should" come out of the first couple of series with 7 or 8 wins With some of the transfers, we could finish closer to the middle of the SLC.

The Southland one of the best mid-major conferences in baseball, a Top 10 conference in the Nation.

MLB prospects in the conference for 2026.

  • Blake Lobell (SP, Southeastern): Tabbed as the Southland's top draftable player for the 2026 season by D1Baseball. He is a senior right-hander who posted a 7-1 record and a 3.90 ERA in 2025, and has seen a recent uptick in velocity.
  • Lakin Polk (SP/UT, Southeastern): A senior two-way player who is considered one of the Lions' premier arms and a potential draft pick. He posted a 4-0 record with a 2.72 ERA in 2025 and is expected to provide significant power at the plate in 2026.
  • Matthew Bienvenu (SP, New Orleans): A former Top 100 Juco prospect with a high-octane "heater" that has been clocked at 95+ mph, making him a high-strikeout candidate for professional scouts.
  • Armani Raygoza (DH, UTRGV): The reigning 2025 Southland Player of the Year. Known for "video game stats" in 2025, he remains a key offensive piece with significant power potential.
Rising Stars, premier position players

  • Easton Moomau (3B, UTRGV): A standout sophomore who earned First Team All-SLC honors in 2025; he is viewed as a "sparkplug" for the Vaqueros' lineup.
  • Dane Watts (OF, Southeastern): A versatile outfielder who batted .345 with 11 doubles and 7 home runs in 2025, earning All-Conference and All-Defensive honors.
  • Brayden Evans (1B, Lamar): A powerful first baseman who led his team with 56 RBIs and 9 home runs during the 2025 season.
  • Easton Dowell (IF, McNeese): Known for elite on-base skills, he batted .369 with 17 doubles and 7 home runs in the previous season.
  • Julius Ramirez (C, UTRGV): A highly touted Juco transfer from New Mexico JC expected to provide an immediate "impact stick" in the middle of the order.
Elite Pitchers

  • Brady St. Pierre (SP, Southeastern): The reigning 2025 Southland Relief Pitcher of the Year. For the 2026 season, he has transitioned into the Friday night starter role for the Lions.
  • Victor Loa (SP, UTRGV): The 2025 Southland Newcomer of the Year. He posted a 5-1 record and 3.54 ERA, notably holding opposing hitters to a sub-.200 batting average.
  • Steven Oliva (RP, UTRGV): The only Southland pitcher named to the 2026 NCBWA Preseason Stopper of the Year Watch List. He recorded six saves and a 3.56 ERA in 2025.
  • Colton Cross (SP, McNeese): A transfer from Tyler JC with a "high octane" arsenal that generated high whiff rates at the junior college level.
  • Cody Templeton (SP, SFA): Most durable pitcher in the conference, 2X Pitcher of the Week, recorded 3 complete games, and 87.2 innings pitched, best in the conference in walks allowed per nine innings 1.33 in 2025, and second in strikes to walk ratio 4.85.

SFA takes game one 17-2

Templeton with the win, 5 innings pitched, gave up 1 run off of 6 hits, 8 K's, no walks.

Feris goes 2 innings in relief gives up 1 run off of 4 hits, 4 K's, no walks.

The entire Lumberjack lineup with at least one run.

Henning 4 RBI's, 2 walks, 2 runs off of 1 hit.
Swift 3 runs off of 3 hits and 3 RBI's
Schneider 4 stolen bases, to go with his 3 runs off of 1 hit, 1 RBI and a walk
DeJesus 1 run off of 3 hits, 2 RBI's

Interesting Coach Vanderburg saying last season the Jacks only had 3 pitchers who could throw in the 90's, not he has a pitching staff of 14 pitchers that can pitch in the 90's.

SFA Jack Fanatic

15-3 Jacks in the second game. 32 runs on the day. Not too bad, but MVSU's pitching was really bad all day.

Start of tomorrow's game has been moved forward to 11:00 a.m. to beat the expected arrival of bad weather.

Reid Bowyer in relief goes 4 innings, no runs off of 4 hits, 8 K's, with 1 walk.

Rodrick Black is fast! Wow the way he shot up that base line beating out the throw at 1st. He gets 3 runs off of 2 hits, 1 RBI, 2 walks, and 3 stolen bases.

and Ethan Pena 1 run off of 2 hits, 2 doubles, 4 RBI's, and a walk.

In two games for the Jacks as a team batted .460, with 32 runs, on 29 hits, 8 doubles, 26 RBI's, 17 walks, and 12 stolen bases.

Pitching ERA 3.21, 14 innings, 18 hits, 5 runs, 26 K's, only 4 walks.

New comer Brennan Greer closed it out, striking out the side in game two.

They said they were going to cover the field tonight, rain expected as early at 5:30 AM.
