We have the potential (based on the pillow soft start of the schedule) we could start 9-1 8-2. Maybe that would help us gain momentum.

With the starters coming back and the offense that was recruited, I'm seeing a possible 30 win season, no worse than 25 with this schedule, it would do wonders to get the program used to winning.

This conference is getting lots of respect in baseball, becoming a real riser in the rankings and getting more and more national exposure with the success of Lamar, SLU, and UTRGV.

#1 LSUS defeated by #25 Central Methodist 4-3, snapping the Pilots incredible 65 game win streak in NAIA baseball.

The streak almost ended the game before against #19 MACU with LSUS down by 3 in the bottom of the 7th (in a 7 inning game) when they walked it off scoring 4.

Football scores in the NAIA

TAMUT scores so far
W 14-13
L 16-15
W 16-3
L 9-2
W 16-5
W 26-16 against #4 Hope International

151 total runs in the first 6 games of the season, the pitching is lacking in the NAIA ranks, and so many pitching changes during the game.

I assume this is A&M Texarkana? That TAMUT thing is foreign to me.

Yes, that is correct Texarkana NAIA in the Red River Conference

And like SFA, they play their ball at a city facility, at George Dobson Field in Spring Lake Park.

Got some new stands and admission is free, just walk right on in and sit where you want.

Sometimes they can't use the field and have to play out at Hooks High School out on I-30.

But that all changes next season when they move into the their new $40M Red River Credit Union Athletes Complex, on campus.

Football coming in 2027 (already secured an invitation to play in the Lone Star Conference), with a new football stadium that should be ready for the 2028 season, as Texarkana makes the jump to NCAA Div. II, Coach Joshua Eargle coming over from UTEP, where he was the recruiting coordinator and TE Coach, just wrapped up his first recruiting class at Texarkana signing 68 players (35 from East Texas)

Bowl Shape design, 6,000 capacity, modern artificial turf, VIP suites, club level seating, will house a local coffee shop and pizza restaurant, and a local FEMA funded storm shelter for up to 1,000 people during extreme weather.

I feel like I am watching what A&M is doing for Texarkana athletics, is what UT will be doing for SFA athletics in the near future, but on a bigger scale of course.

I'm curious how these facilities are being funded.

  • Funding Sources: The project relies on private philanthropy, community fundraising, and support from government agencies, including funding for a tornado-safe room from the Texas Division of Emergency Management, that involves a federal grant for $16.4M.
  • Initial Capital: As of early 2025, roughly $13-$14 million was secured to initiate the project.
  • University & System Funds: In the FY 2026 TAMUT Budget, the A&M System officially lists the
  • Athletics Complex as an approved project with a planning amount of $23 million. A significant portion of this (over $15 million) is categorized under university-managed funding and bonds.
  • Funding Gap: Approximately $20 million more was needed at the time of the groundbreaking in February 2025 to complete the project, with continued efforts to raise funds.
  • Timeline: The project began in early 2025, with completion expected within 16-18 months to support the university's transition to NCAA Division II and the launch of new sports, including football by 2027-2028.
  • Fall 2024: Added competitive cheer and dance, coed varsity esports, and beach volleyball.
  • Fall 2025: Launching men's and women's golf, bowling, lacrosse, and indoor/outdoor track and field.
  • 2027-2028: Football and women's flag football teams are scheduled to begin competition, with football aiming for its first game in Fall 2027.

2019: Men's and women's basketball were introduced for the 2019-2020 academic year.

2024-2025: A massive expansion added sports like beach volleyball, esports, golf, and track and field, nearly doubling the total number of varsity programs.

And finally 2027 the Eagles will play their first football game, at Texas High in Texarkana while the stadium is under construction scheduled to be ready by 2028 season.
