#1 Cemodrick Bland (Fr.) has really taken over his game of late.

The true freshman in his last 5-games has improved his batting average to .321 from .270 and in his last 21 at bats, Cemodrick has 9 runs off of 10 hits, 1 home run, 3 RBI's, touching base 13 times , 6 walks, and 9 stolen bases.

Another must for the Lumberjacks to keep at SFA for 2026.

I'm not sure but I have have missed this before but I just confirmed that we have plans in place for baseball and softball to move to an on campus site sooner rather than later. The land is designated already. Is this old news?
Neither new nor old news. Like all athletic facilities, baseball and softball are part of the University master plan expected to be completed in November. There are some potential athletics facilities lay outs being worked on that most of the athletic staff has seen. Next steps are to consolidate the various parts of the master plan that are being worked on simultaneously. Once the master plan is complete, funding has to be raised. Funding for athletic facilities is different than for academics. There is no UT System magic pot of money for athletics.

There is a lot more work to be done before there are shovels in the ground for any of it.

So I have a question hopefully you can answer

If SFA was or is looking at new athletics stuff like fields etc and also academic expenses and or growth like new forms or classrooms etc and is having to raise money to pay for all this on both athletics and academic side it would limit how much can be spent in each area obviously since money is coming from one source to pay for all the wish list items on both sides

Now if Texas comes along and says hey we will give you money but only for academic side of things then what would keep SFA from using some of their own money they were going to have to use on academics and move that to athletics stuff since the horns decided to help on academic side?

The short of it is, I can't answer it. I've had two AD's and others attempt to help me understand facility, both academic and athletic, funding mechanisms. It's complicated. What I am confident of is that SFA does not have some academic facility pot of money available that could be moved to athletics.

Private donations are critical to funding both academic and athletic facilities, whether it's new or updated. But, much more for athletics. That, and a student athletic fee.

I keep saying the SLC is a terrible conference, and that's still true in almost all sports except baseball of all things. The SLC may very well end up being a multi bid baseball league this year.

SFA (11-28; 3-18) VS. NORTHWESTERN STATE (25-17; 15-9)

3-GAME SERIES

WHEN: Fri., Sat., Sun. (6:05 P.M.; 3:00 P.M.; 1:00 P.M.)
WHERE: Nacogdoches, Texas (Pilgrim's Park)
TV: ESPN+

Baseball History vs Northwestern State University from April 13, 2006 - May 18, 2024

The Demons hold a 27-24 lead in the over all-series and have won the last 3 meets as well as 5 of the last 6.

NSU is riding high into the weekend after going into Baton Rouge and knocking off the #6 LSU Tigers 13-3 in a run ruled 7th.

LSU was 34-7 and 25-2 at home going into that game, and NSU had a 6-13 record on the road.

The Demon's lineup is highlighted by #6 Rocco Gump and his team leading batting average of .338 and 40 RBI's.

Pitching ace #8 Trent Hillen ERA 3.51 W-L 6-1; 59 innings pitched; 51 K's, and 21 walks, batting average against .253 should get the start.

Also, look for pitchers #36 Dylan Marionneaux and #33 Tyler Bryan in the series to get the start.

The Jacks should be well rested and looking forward to the challenge against a very good NSU team at home.
