Are those rising seniors, 93?

Yes, if they return those are the players who would be on the 2025 West Texas A&M Roster.

And there are some good ones (Kyle Micklus) on that list.

I guess these players have to find new teams

Some recent SFA signees

JJ Garcia (El Paso CC)
GP:52;GS:52;AVG:.413;H:85;R:66;RBI:42;2B:16;3B:14;HR:7;SB:15
Harrison Wall (Wharton County JC)
Sticks Fall League POY (2023)
Pre-Season Underclass All-American 2023 (Perfect Game)
Matthew Reinholtz (Baton Rouge CC)
Holt Gibson (Midland College) (Already looking)
All Conference, All-Region Pitcher 2024
Dylan Hummel
Ben Hoshizaki
1st Team All-ACCAC and All-Region; .356 AVG, lead the conference with 26 stolen bases, .990 fielding
Collin Netto (Pitcher)
Josh Milleville (92 MPH fast ball)
David Hutson (16-3A Offensive POY)
Elysian Fields High School Valedictorian (2024)

tons of SFA players in the portal, looking for new homes.

I wonder how that process works, do you not even meet the new coach, would the new coach be interested in re-recruiting you, or is the new coach already assembling his own players, have the current SFA players been told to just look elsewhere, etc.

Seems to me, opening bid for the "top 50%" of D1 recruits is good , if not very good facilities. On campus. What is our target. I think something like what Sam Houston has is a reasonable starting point. From looking at recent stadium costs just using the google search, it looks like $15 million is probably a pretty good number. Hopefully we can get a plan and find land in 3 - 6 months, and see what kind of $$$ we can get. Surely we can get some private corporate help from Pilgrims or Eaton.

Pretty excited about the possibilities.

I'm sure this has happened at other schools but this is amazing. How can the new coach find a team basically over the summer to even play much less compete? No way any of the kids from his former school would even consider the notion of coming with him! He's got to find 40 or so players right?
SFAXE93
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think some of his players would follow him and some will.

He would be like, "Hey do you want to come play some Division I baseball?"

There's hundreds of players out there, he just has to hit the portal, JUCOS, players he was perviously recruiting at WT, etc.

5000+ in the portal. With the CWS wrapping up this weekend, we will start to see more movement.

There are kids that will take a DI offer just to play DI instead of moving down to play for a better program/competition. He will fill the roster.

It will be interesting to see how some of these pitchers react to a different coaching staff and their methods, and or motivation.

Boyett, Balmaceda, James, and Parker have had their moments to a point, but again the run support and the bullpen was a struggle.

I bet coach V is meeting with these players, sharing his vision, telling them what they can expect, and they are finding out they want to play for this guy.

Yes, the ERA is high on these pitchers, but dagum some of these players were complete studs in high school and they got division I offers.

Mulcahy 6-4; 210 is from my area down here in central Texas, played at Vandegrift High School in the Leander ISD where he had All-American consideration, and was one of the Top pitchers in the area, a Top 150 pitcher by Perfect Game with 38 wins at Vandergrift. Last year at SFA - 0 ERA through 7 appearances Including: ACU, Tarleton, Texas Tech, UCSD, Utah Tech, APB

4s: 88-91
Sink:87-90
Change: 81-83
Curve:78-80
Slider: 79-81

Playing Summer ball with the Thunder Bay Bordercats in the Northwoods.
GP:5;ERA:2.84;SV:1;IP:12.2;H:13;R:4;ER:4;BB:8;SO:18;HR:1;WHIP:1.66

Coach V sees it and wanted to keep this guy.

Again, maybe a different approach and coaching can turn it around for the pitching.

Important hire

https://sfajacks.com/news/2024/7/17/sfa-baseball-hires-philip-middleton-as-associate-head-coach-and-pitching-coach

"He has a history of being a phenomenal recruiter and is excellent at developing talent shown by numerous All-Conference honorees, All-Region selections and conference Players of the Year."

Middleton went to TAMIU after seven successful years at fellow Lone Star Conference (LSC) member Texas A&M-Kingsville (TAMUK), where he served as assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and pitching coach. At TAMUK, he helped lead the Javelinas to over 200 wins, two LSC Championships and three NCAA Regional Tournament appearances.

In 2018, he helped coached the Javelinas to their first College World Series appearance in school history, finishing with 42 wins, a top six finish nationally, eight All-LSC players, the LSC Freshman of the Year and the first MLB Draft pick since 2012.

Since his arrival in Kingsville in the fall of 2013, Middleton recruited and signed over 90 new student-athletes. All of this led to the baseball program holding the best male team GPA in the athletic department, higher graduation rates and increased professional baseball opportunities.

I wonder if these two young men would follow their coaches to SFA?

West Texas A&M catcher Kyle Micklus took Newcomer of the Year honors after batting .421 in the regular season and leading the conference with a .540 on-base percentage. The junior from Waller, Texas was also in the LSC's top-5 for hits (75) and runs scored (64). Micklus threw out 16 baserunners.

Texas A&M International's Isaac Stanwick was voted LSC Freshman of the Year. The Eagle Pass, Texas native hit .304, scored 48 runs and drew 41 walks in the regular season. Stanwick also stole 11 bases and started every game in center field.

SPEED! Just glides around those bases.
