Had a chance to visit with this young lady before the PLF luncheon today. Like most of our student-athletes, very impressive. Dickson recruited he when she was the coach at TJC, but Galveston won out. After Juco, Dickson got her over a school in prison orange. Why SFA, I asked. Her response was Dickson first, then the friendly, family atmosphere of SFA and Nacogdoches. Ashley is from Katy.

Sometimes the SLC just pisses me off. This is one of those times.

The second game only went five innings because we run ruled them. Coach put one of her freshman pitchers in for the fifth inning. Ashley pitched 11 innings between her two starts. Seven inning no hitter with 19 strikeouts.

Beaver pitched 12 innings between her two games. Her no hitter .... five inning game.

Ladyjacks lose to KC 4-3. Wilbur with the loss in 6 2/3 innings. Gave up seven hits and three walks. KC only got one hit in their first game of the season earlier today. Very disappointing loss.

Yep disappointing. Didn't expect her to have as dominant a start as last year, but that's a rough outing. They happen though. Need more hits.

Offense was not great. Getting runners thrown out at third and home didn't help. Just expect more from Wilbur.

Freshman Reagan Chism in the circle against UTA.

Bennett with a three run shot in the top of the first. No doubter into the teeth of the wind.

Chism works out of a nervous first. Two walks, two stolen bases, and a sac bunt. 3-0 after one.

Chism gives up a two run homer in the third. Relieved by Wilbur who struggles with the strike zone. Walks and singles gives up three runs. Down 5-3.

Wilbur relieved in the fourth by Llinas after giving up a solo homer. A caught stealing kept it from being two.

Llinas is out after giving up four runs in the fifth. 10-3 with two outs.

Run ruled 11-3 in five.

Don't know. She was all over the place. Walks and pitching behind, leading to putting hitable pitches over the plate.

It wasn't just Wilbur of course. 4.2 innings, four pitchers gave up 11 runs, 10 hits, and 10 walks, with only 3 K's. Although there weren't any errors recorded, there were a couple of mental errors leading to runs. Two hits in the first inning, and nothing after that. UTA is good. SFA is young. Tonight they looked young.

Good SFA crowd at the game. As many, or more, than I saw at any home game, other than senior night, last season.

Wilbur in the circle for the game against TSU. Strikes out the side in the first. Step down in competition, but still a good start.
