Seems like a good recruiter. But didn't pan out in the HC scheme of things.Quote:

Linder kind of just seems meh to me. Even more meh for Alvin Brooks III espically with the Sam connection.

Meh, Brown's record at WSU is only so so. Why was he fired after only 3 seasons. Why was he dismissed from Tx A&M back in the day as a player.
Look at an article from the Lubbock paper it seems there was some interesting deals between Tech and Wyoming regarding Wyoming coming to play at TT. "UW agreed to waive his liquidated damages after Linder vacated the money owed him" That led to TT having Wyoming come to TT for some game paydays. Article does say that Linder is very much into NIL money--apparently a big reason he wanted out of Laramie.
Brooks has been an assistant at schools that win games--Baylor, Kansas St, Kentucky. The couple of years at Sam doesn't mean much.
Not inspired by any of these choices.

Brooks is the kinda of coach that I'm wanting them to look at. 5 years as an assistant at K State. 5 years Associate Head Coach and lead recruiter at Baylor. Currently 2 years at Kentucky as Associate Head Coach. I really like his background.
Youve sold me a bit more on him. But I still want to see more names in the hat. Brooks also has connections to Tarleton coach Billy Gillisipie. Kind of want to steer away from the Southland Connection but maybe he does have the best resume forward from what we have heard so far.Jacks1989 said:

Back up the bus, guys. As mentioned previously, Brooks is making $800K as Associate HC at Kentucky. No way in Hades can SFA afford anything remotely close to that.

Well, it did say he was showing interest, remember SFA is a stepping stone to bigger schools and more money.

I sure hope the powers that be makes the right decision on the hire. This cellar dweller thing isn't fun. With the transfer portal you can rebuild instantly. Sure don't need a couple of rebuilding years.

All you need is a coach who can sell you and give you a winning chance. Pretty much what McNeese did. Im honestly fine with a reload every year if we need too. But it would be nice to get some guys for 1-2 years if we ever wanted to run it back.No-look said:

To be fair, Will Wade was one bad statement away from getting blackballed from collegiate basketball. He was caught redhanded paying players, summarily dismissed, but kept his mouth shut (except on the recorded phone calls). The pace of NIL was just quick enough to keep him from losing his chance.

I agree as well. Plus I can see him going off after this season. Most of his seniors are graduating.
Not saying this should be the answer, but Bob Huggins keeps saying he wants to coach again. 2 years sober too.

Good catch, 1989. But the only thing I like about that story, since it probably has zero chance of ever happening, is that SFA's job opening is being noticed in national circles, albeit one UK fan page.
Someone pulling down $800K (as both our own Nacluth and Tall Texan obviously are) would never accept a job at perhaps less than half of that amount. However, there's always the chance that the $800K figure that was reported earlier is way off (since Duke's Associate HC makes considerably less). In that case, it could be "game on!"
