Probably have some rights taken away on what they can do on campus. Possibly a fine, additional training, meetings with campus administration, etc.

I can understand both sides here. Basketball/sports is not for everyone and it is nice for students to have options. We are passionate about sports and our program, so it is difficult for us to understand why the double scheduling. However, there are plenty of students who feel the opposite. Diversity and all

I mean, I could get it if they did multiple events a week. I know not everyone loves basketball(mostly bearkats), but when you have literally any other day you could schedule something during the week, it's a bad look IMO.

Agree. Just don't schedule both at the same time.

I don't get this at all. I understand that some people don't like sports but most college kids run to free food. I think that Ivey should offer free popcorn and cookie cake to students tonight.

Yeah I don't think we've offered any free food this year. Popcorn is what, $2? Students aren't going to be spending much money anyway so why not promote something like that for them?

1000 times this. Students show up for free stuff.

And all these events are submitted by the students to the org and then approved.

The promotion game/incentive for students has been pretty non existent this year. They received the mini basketball and that's it. Last year, I remember more stuff

Popcorn is incredibly cheap to make too. You might be out a quarter a box.

There's no age limit to being in college or so my brother's favorite movie Old School says. I'm planning on rushing now that I'm in my 40's.

Walked by where they are giving out t-shirts a couple of times. They are all but begging people to stop and get a shirt. I remember seeing long lines to get a shirt. So much for giving away stuff drawing a crowd.

Duke Blue Devil team just entered to see how to play good basketball.

I feel like we used the big screens, screens on the floor, and screens above each basket to display messages and such during play in the past, but I don't recall seeing any this season. That could help get everyone (cheerlearders, PHA, students, etc.) in sync to do certain cheers and heckle. Our coliseum is small enough that we really don't need live feed to the big screens all the time.

The same could be said for audio. Instead of just playing music before an in bounds play, maybe play something that will help initiate/lead the crowd.

I noticed they made several "hype" videos with players to try and get the crowd loud, and were using graphics quite a bit tonight. Not sure if I'm just now noticing, but I like what they are trying to do.

Purple Haze seemed solid yesterday. Glad to hear they're trying to recruit the average student, needed to have been doing that from the start. Hopefully they keep at that on social media as well.

Yep. They got several to move down to that section, which I thought was cool. I need to go show them some love on twitter bc they are trying.

Loudest crowd in a long time. Very end of the season, but got to start sometime.

We've got students on Twitter now complaining that they shouldn't keep dorms open an extra day for the Sam games because CA's (I always thought they were called RAs) would have to stay a day late. It's alllll about them.

It's also their job.
I think the dorms were extended recently (like the past few years) for a sporting event but can't quite remember.
I hear the dorms are staying open until Sunday morning.

That's great if they do. May be a little too late to have some students change plans, but at least they are trying.

Can someone please explain this to me? Dorms staying open until 9 Sunday? I've seen several times comments about dorms staying open. When I was in school the dorms were always open - always. I know that was a very long time ago, but it just seems odd to me that they would close the dorms.

Not sure about Dorm schedules. When I was attending SFA 1980-1985 the Dorms always closed for routine maintenance etc during spring break.

Yeah for long holidays the dorms close, because they have to have RAs in order to keep them open. So long student breaks they close them all together. Or something like that.

For real. Our home crowd this year was honestly the worst it's been since the Danny Kasper era. I was watching highlights from the 2015-2016 season, and for even D3 games we had very loud, rowdy, and large crowds.

I can't add anything to this. Going through his Twitter feed, it looks like he was working with Purple Haze most, if not all, of the season. I do not think his association is with our athletic department, but I don't know. There was moderate improvement towards the end of the season. Nothing to get excited about.

We've had contact with GCU for several years. At what capacity I don't really know, but I know we've reached out for help and ideas.

The way that PHA is engaged in the game is just a small problem, that definitely got better towards the end of the season. The bigger problem is the attendance of the students and the ones that don't sit in the student section. That's a problem that GCU can't help much with I'm afraid.

I noticed Texas State on that list, which is interesting because they've had the same problem. But had an amazing event and crowd for their home tournament game a few weeks ago. They marketed it well, set out white shirts (that the fans actually wore, don't get me started there) and had over 6,300 in attendance.
