That game shouldn't have been as close as it was. SFA was able to hang in because sam kept stepping on their own collective jock.

I'd rather rebuild and see what we get vs another mediocre season under a **** coach

I'm with the Rev. This is just bull$h!t. We are going exactly NOWHERE. 8-5 yahoo. 4-7 and 5-6. I think we'd be lucky to go 5-6 this year. It's not like HBU SLU UIW NWST etc have measurable advantage in facilities etc.

I don't know, we have a ton coming back next season along with Sawyer. If you had to do it, could you get a new coach in and hope to keep the team in tact since all the assistances would leave as well?

I think Crowton is an obvious fit. You avoid all the turnover (most of it) and you get a proven winner. Besides what do we really have to lose. I don't think Conque does better than 7-4 next year. Even if it all plays out better because of fewer injuries. I imagine Crowton does at least that.

And why did we fire Harper and pay off his contract after 3 SLC rings? We would have done A lot better had we kept him and let him build a program. When you hire mediocre, you get mediocre results. This revolving door needs to stop every five years! Hire right and you will see results in enrollment, game attendance, donations, etc. #FireConque

Harper got 2 rings. It looks more and more like Dawson was the glue that held that boat together.

Harper went 6-5....5-6....3-9 in his last 3 seasons.....once Moses and Dawson were done SFA sunk back down in the SLC. And.....where is he coaching now?

Just home from the game. Defense played tough even though they were on the field much of the game. Offense too many mistakes. Dropped passes. Missed wide open receivers. Poor O line play. Again. On side kick was a great call only to be wasted with a poorly thrown Int.

I thought Conque was a good hire. I think I was wrong. Is it really the coaching or some other stuff? How is Sam successful through multiple coaches when SFA can never have one successful coach.

BTW, halftime reminded me how much I appreciate the LMB. And during the game. The Sam band is not good, yet they have a winning football team year after year. Our problem on the field has nothing to do with the band.

Answer is he is not. Moving on from Harper was the right call in my book.

For now....I think UCA will destroy us next week but after that we could legitimately win the last 4 which would leave us 6-5 and probably get Conque another season. If however we finish 4-7 one thinks it would be hard for the upper brass to keep him around.

I didn't mind giving Conque another season as we really were decimated as a team last year but the new season has not brought any better results and I wouldn't mind a change at this point.

BigJack----I have been very unimpressed with Crowton's play calling both last year and now. 12-15 flanker screens a game, RBs that don't run straight ahead except when the whole Def line is waiting on them....can't support that promotion.

Of course I do admit to being a very disappointed fan.....I wait all spring and summer for SFA football and then..........Hmmmmm

Crowton's play calling has much to do with the personnel he has to deal with. Namely the O-Line. With 4 years to build an O-Line and we've gotten worse not bettter. I could argue that if we had the 2015 O-Line we win this game and possibly go on to 7-4 or 8-3. That is the core of the problem.

Big---Yeah I considered that as well. We had a great line then....didn't some of those guys start like 30+ games in a row....I miss those guys.

Pretty frustrated right now ....don't want to see endless chances for Conque....would probably rather start fresh and bring in a new crew ...but then you have to survive the rebuilding timeframe........now I'm frustrated again!!

I live in Huntsville. My dad was a prof at SH for 35 years. I went to SFA and graduated in 99. I have witnessed first hand how SH operates. In football, they hire top talent like we do in basketball. They don't go to the coach pool of has beens and might be's who have been in the Southland for years! We have had at least 5 coaches since I graduated. Sam had 1 mediocre coach over 30 years. Bottom line, Enrollment suffers, donations suffer, fan base declines when you don't hire right. Sam would be in the same boat if they went to the Southland for Football coaches! Basketball is good, but Football makes the reputation!

Well Randy I do agree with you on the hiring from inside the SLC doesn't get us anywhere. I never understood the Santiago hire back when and 6-5 was about the yearly outcome. So far the Conque hire has not panned out.
I would definitely want the next hire to come from somewhere outside of the SLC.

That said, I would be willing to bet that Conque will be back again next season, especially if we close out 6-5 or even 5-6 ...the Sawyer injury and abundance of youth on the team will get him one more shot.

My belief is that SFA does a good job prioritizing budget wise. I think we have a gap in football and baseball facilities. Robert Hill has done an excellent job. Football needs a jolt.

Conque needs to go at the end of this year. i want a new start and for the new coach to set the tone with a good year. Our fan base needs it! The fan base was very low today and will be even lower next year because of today! 7 losses in a row to SH is unacceptable, especially since Pattillo and the AD could have prevented it by hiring right 5 years ago. This problem did not start yesterday and it needs to end. In addition, 15 senior classes at SH have won ALL of their games against SFA, another unacceptable fact. Why can't we hire coaches in Football like we do in Basketball? It makes zero sense!

I was very surprised by the game. I went into it just hoping it wouldn't be a blowout. The Jacks were in this game. Sure they spotted them 17 in the first quarter. But the defense settled down played well. They kept the Jacks in the game.

Blumrick ... I'm surprised he was upright at the end of the game. He was hit more than a buffet at a weight watchers convention. The OL didn't do him any favors but he hung in there and did his best. The receivers killed us. They dropped ... I don't know how many .. so many passes that ended drives. The running game (play calling) was somewhat predictable and that caused it to be very ineffective.

All told SFA was in this game. A game they were expected to get rolled in. If they keep playing close - even with a losing season- I think Conque gets another year. Do I think a new coach is needed? Probably because ... again I am new so I don't have the history... but looking at record and just the product on the field ... he is meh at best. A new coach would revitalize the fan base with hope under a new coach. If Conque stays I see the fan base continuing to get more and more disconnected.

If Conque is back I'll probably not waste the time and cash on BOTPW.

Headed to an All-SLC birth for sure. Maybe even FCS All American. The guy just has a nose for the football. Wish we could bottle that and pass it around.

Anytime a player loses a helmet they have to sit out at least one play. Jake lost his helmet two plays in a row.
