Didn't we under report during season too? Does NCAA get a cut of that?

Also we've got UT money now. Lol.

Some things are for sure better but our athletic dept still survives on private funds because we have no athletic fee on our students bills.. Most every other school has these charges at registration but we don't.. Hopefully we will be going through the right process of getting it added.. Our faculty should be getting paid more now that we are part of UT which is so much deserved but it really doesn't help that much with athletics until we start charging a fee like other schools.. For example I believe Tarletons ath dept gets roughly 10mil more per year than us because of those fees.

Good to know. Yeah I think I vaguely remember a vote for adding the athletic fees not getting passed a few years back but I could be wrong. That definitely makes sense though.

The vote has been up and voted down every couple of years for at least well over a decade now. The bad thing is the students don't know what they're voting against.

I talked to a few students at the playoff game specifically about the athletic fee, and they were all under the impression it was going to make SFA athletic events no longer free for students. They had no idea what it entailed.

To add also. People hear the term and fee and instantly vote no. They need to do a better job of explaining the fee and how it can help, instead of just saying "Please vote for this." Every time, it'll fail. Also, not requiring seniors to vote for it would help when it does not affect them.

Ya the last attempt iirc was a like one week crap show where they hoped students really wouldn't pay attention to pass it.

And I can understand why students are balking at any additional fees with today's uni prices.

Sounds like we need to go set up some tents on campus for a few weeks and educate some folks

This is what I found for UT students:

Texas Longhorn students don't pay a separate mandatory athletic fee but can purchase the Big Ticket, an optional sports pass for access to events, which costs $250 (with football) or $100 (without football) for the 2025-26 year, with no extra processing fees for these prices. While older information mentioned a $175 fee plus processing, the current "Big Ticket" is a flat rate for all home regular season sports, including football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and softball.

Are we asking students to do something different?

We don't ask our students to do anything. Last I knew, students got in free to all sporting events.

Could be wrong now, though.

It was free the last time I was there five years ago. I still don't think they have changed it. This is more of a fee that would be added to tuition, at around $50-100, to provide a secondary revenue stream. Hell, even my graduate did a fee called Michigan Tech Experience, which was $100, but optional, but let you in all games for free anywhere.

Read an article from the Bozeman Daily Chronicle that said we pulled out of a home and home agreement to play them in 2024 resulting in us paying $150k. Is that true and if so why did we pull out of that agreement?

That was right after McBroom and co moved us to the SLC. Don't know for sure, but my guess is that we had to accommodate the SLC schedule and moving stuff around was part of the deal

This is correct. From the research I've gathered, we had to make room for an extra SLC game or something along those lines. All the Montana State fans are using it as trash talk. Lol

The Southland scheduled us to play an early conference game that year, 2 weeks before everyone else started conference play. We had to either drop the game with Montana State or forfeit a conference game.

It wasn't SFA's fault per se other than us moving back to the SLC, it was more the SLC forcing us to cancel it.

Howdy gang! Bobcat fan here from the great state of Montana. Can't wait for you folks to come up from Texas. Looking forward to a great game.

As to the number of Texas players on our roster, we have been fortunate to have had great success recruiting out of your state the last several years. We have a great pipeline of former players and coaches from Texas with ties to Montana.

Hey SFASawmillGuy! Just an FYI - we typically pre-sell tickets to every round of the playoffs each year we are in the mix. Doesn't matter who the opponent is, so please don't mistake this as a slight to your program. No one is overlooking SFA here in Montana.

Preselling tickets is just easier for our ticket office. Season ticket holders have to opportunity to reserve their seats for the entire playoffs; every round. Then, you are only charged for the game once you win and qualify for the next round. I had my seats reserved for every round once our regular season ended.

We are having some bizarre weather in Montana right now. Currently 60 degrees when I am at, when it's normally in the 30s. Friday night's forecast is for a rain/snow mix with wind. The playing surface could be slick, and throwing the ball could pose a challenge.

Most Bobcat fans wish it were a Saturday game as well. Probably close to 60% of our fanbase travels to Bozeman on gameday from other parts of the state. And just like Texas, we're a damn big state and that means a lot of driving for some of us, making a Friday night more challenging. And college football should be played on a Saturday.

MSU has some say into gametimes, but so much of the playoff dates & times is controlled by the NCAA, and of course, ESPN/ABC. They know that we will sell out our stadium regardless of day or time, so they usually stick us with the slots other schools would prefer not to have. Aggravating for a lot of our fans. But we have a pretty cool team run-out, and its even cooler at night, so there is that....

Our rodeo team, which is national championship contender every year and has won it multiple times, leads our football team out every home game. We're pretty proud of it!

this may have been covered in an earlier post, but what is the status of the SFA kid who was transported via ambulance after a horrific hit Saturday? Hope the young man is OK...scary scene.
