After watching that, I'm anxious to see Bugs Mortimer play. Elite speed. Could be great as a return man and inside receiver. Might be one of the biggest surprises on the team this year.
Seeking some reps from him in practice, he's definitely going to give Sam Vidlak the option to just say "screw it, Bugs is down there somewhere" if things break down. Dude has unreal speed.
There's a story in today's Houston Chronicle about UH's projected 3rd string QB, Austin Carlisle. What's so special about him? He's a speedster. A heck of a speedster. He's been clocked at 23.7 MPH, which is faster than any NFL ball carrier did last year. EA Sports has given him the fastest speed rating of all QB's at the FBS level in the country.

This actually worries me more than the rest of the UH roster, which I think we matchup relatively decent against and UH's starting QB has not done well against teams with a strong pass rush.
SFA however has historically, even in our best defensive years, been awful against QBs who can run. Idk what it is, but SFA always seems to have trouble with those guys. Obviously when he enters the game it will 90% be a run play so we SHOULD be able to key in on it.
Joseph Duarte, who covers the Houston Cougars for the Houston Chronicle, has predicted that UH will beat our Jacks by a score of 45-6. I almost threw up my oatmeal when I read that this morning.
"The Cougars get what should be a pressure-free environment to unveil their new new-look offense. It doesn't hurt that UH is 20-0 all-time against FCS opponents."
If this prediction was coming out of Las Vegas I'd bet the farm against it. Ain't gonna happen, amigo. You don't have a clue about SFA's team.

They made it sound like the fake injury was the biggest rule change, but it seems like defenders not being able to try to draw a false start will majorly impact every play.

I'm just throwing this out there, I've said since the end of last season UIW was going to be down this year. They definitely looked it.
They were just riding the coat tails of their own success, as they have won with different coaches, different QB's whoever came in they just won, and now it looks like the well has run dry.
But Nicholls does have a great defense returning from last season, and it will keep them in some games this year, as their offense is still shaky.
