ACU responds even more quickly with a flea flicker play resulting in long TD pass to TE. Now 21-13

Actually a fun game to watch except I fear the trend is now heavily favoring ACU.

It's great to see SFA using the trick plays successfully in a crucial game. SFA is finally opening things up offensively.

Oh, wait. That's not SFA.... Never mind...

A nice 60 yard pass and run to Gipson is wasted when ACU blocks a FG attempt. The wrong trend continues.

A blocked FG. Geezzz Louise. What the heck is the OL doing???

Well, we've got a once in a lifetime player, and other good players, but we're really not a championship caliber team, haven't been all year…even so still have a chance…gotta do it right here.

Jacks over 400 yards of total offense thus far but some mistakes have left points on the field not scoreboard.
Jacks get a FG to cut it to 21-16. Need to get to the endzone if we are going to get this game.

Don't understand the intentional short kickoff. ACU starts at their 40 yard line.

Defense holds and ACU hits a short punt. Still alive.

Trae Self runs in a 12 yard 4th down play for a lead TD. What a great run in a crucial 4th down situation.
2 point conversion makes it 24-21

These two things are both true statements:

(1) Stoked to end with a win and the WAC title
(2) This game makes the previous two even more disappointing.

This was not pretty, but the Jacks did just enough to get the W. WAC CHAMPIONS!

Your SFA Lumberjacks are WAC CHAMPIONS.

What a season....and as Master might say that phrase holds several meanings!

Lots of ups and downs in today's game but the defense held their own and Self and Gipson came through big time on the offensive end.

I deliberately did not post today because of all the direct and indirect comments about my posts. I kept up with the posts, and several of them were not much different than mine throughout the course of the game....

Congrats to the Lumberjacks for getting it done tonight and winning a ring. We still have major issues (based on your comments today) that must be addressed!! Hopefully Carthel can refresh the coaching staff with some new talent during the off season....

Have a great Thanksgiving to all of you.

Rebuilding after losing four coaches. Rebuilding a coaching staff.

There will be those that will try and minimalize this WAC championship because SFA only went 6-5 or because there were only 5 eligible teams in the conference title chase but the WAC was not responsible for Sam moving up or Lamar and UIW welching on their commitment to join the WAC so it's a legitimate Championship based on the rules the WAC had to go by.

I'm sure all here will gladly welcome the Championship ring and that also the players and coaching staff that are returning next year have a mountain of work to do heading into next season and beyond.

That said I will gladly celebrate today and worry about next season a bit later.

Whatever the case, I have newfound respect/admiration for Trae Self. Xavier Gipson is an absolute beast. Couldn't be more pleased that these two stalwarts go out, winners.

Have a great Thanksgiving to all of you.
You called for Carthel and his staff to resign or be fired. On multiple occasions.

Your beloved K.C. Keeler and friends finished the season 5-4 playing an FCS schedule with 85 scholarships.

You chose to not answer my question about what you were doing to support SFA athletics. Attending games? Donating to the PLF. Anything?

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Also credit to the ACU broadcast crew and announcers. They do it right and the announcers do a good, fair job of calling the game evenly without the "homer" bias.

Multiple camera angles, quick replays, sideline reporters, campus shots.

This is the standard SFA should strive for.
I just want to give another shoutout to them for this. Their broadcast was much better than the SFA broadcast. It could not have easy to act excited when Self runs for the touchdown or the Lumberjacks hit long passes to X. They were very professional.

I agree. Their biases showed a couple of times, but they held it in check pretty well. And doing a post-game interview with Self was unexpected but welcomed and well done. Wish our people could do a football (or basketball) broadcast half as well.

I had to watch the last 20 minutes again. Wow. Trae Self & Xavier Gipson. What a duo. Crazy. 6-5 wasn't what we had hoped for but in the end it felt pretty good.
