Gipson set record for most receiving yards in a game for SFA with 256 yards.

Gipson had 256

Jarell had 130 rushing

Didn't I tell y'all Wimbley will be the best RB we ever had back in the spring..

Wimbley is very good. We need 2 things....keep him away from the portal and get him more open space to run in.

Yeah we need to get him a NIL deal or the big schools will next year..

Given that SFA is at 300 ft and SUU is at 5600 ft, it sounds like the SUU coaches were smart and realized the hurry up offense would take a toll on the Lumberjack defense. A good win under difficult circumstances.

I bet the Lumberjacks see those screens again in the future.

Massey Ratings have been very accurate with predictions for SFA games. Since the debacle against jsu , they been pretty on the mark.

Wimbley and Maurer are gonna give us a dangerous read option game next season if we don't lose him to the portal.

Conditions were brutal for both teams. 30 MPH wind with gusts up to, I don't know. It looked like the north goal post might lay over. Seriously, it looked like it might come out of the ground. Campos did not strike the FG he missed well, but swaying goal posts didn't help. The flag pole looked similar. They took the flag down in the second half.

Tackling! Missed four of them on that 3rd and 21 screen on the SUU second half opening drive. The maligned coaches had the players in the right spot. Players make plays, coaches don't.

After losing the coin toss, Carthel made exactly the right move to start the second half so we had the wind in the 4th quarter. The special team calls were huge of course.

Altitude was a very big deal for us. Those watching on TV could not see Gipson, Wimbley, and others working hard on the sidelines just to breath. Both those guys, and others, got oxygen at some point. We did struggle with the hurry up offense. To a degree that has been true all season, but lack of oxygen contributed. From the time the team landed in Cedar City to the opening kick was about 20 hours. Why not go a day early? $$$

Our secondary is thin. Sorely missed TK due to injury. Harmon's snaps were limited due to injury also. The defense has struggled all season. Perhaps missing 7 starters from last season, and just about an entirely new defensive staff might be part of that?

SUU O-line does a good job of holding. Two of our guys had torn jerseys from holds that weren't called. Other holds weren't quite as flagrant.

Kudos to 4460 for chasing down the ref's cap as it blew down the sideline. It was headed for the track, and then to parts unknown. He did look a bit gassed while walking it back to the ref though.

Great write up and all so accurate… That hat chase down got us the only holding call of the game in the late 4th when they broke one.. I told that ref you owe us a holding call atleast… Xavier and some of the others were completely exhausted after the game they always give us maximum effort..

Agreed. Great write up. Tackling. Tackling. A few more "wrap ups" and this game is put away by the end of the 2nd half. Carthel did make the right call regarding wind. It turned out to be the difference. Axe 'Em Jacks

Thanks for the write up 76. Wind bothered everyone....altitude affected us. You are correct thru TV/Computer I did not see the oxygen intake but well aware it would happen.

SUU very smart to play hurry up while we dealt with altitude etc, but defense has been a problem most of the season. Played well vs Tarleton but almost let ACU beat us. Other results well known. We will see when back in our own atmosphere next week how D responds.

I would say the new coaching lineup thing is a bit thin at this point. They have played 8 games and countless practices. Coaches and players should be more than well acquainted by now and playbook schemes learned.
Not sure how to handle the poor tackling issues but that should be project #1 right now.

Self was strong yesterday, did well for the most part fighting the gales. Special team plays were smart and not nearly as risky as the 4th down one vs Tarleton. Running the table is well within our reach if we keep tweaking and improving the components.

85 he has some great game experience with the wind from his days at WT.. he has a great theory on it.. I know 76 heard Coaches explanation.. I just don't remember too well.. I do remember that you treat it as 14 pts and then I go blank.. on to the next one..

Basically, it's that he believes that wind is worth 14 points. So, he took the risk of giving them the ball and the wind in the third quarter hoping to hold them under that until Q4. Third and 21 on their second half opening drive was perfect until …. TACKLE!!!
