Compare and contrast from BOTPW to ACU. Our defense literally looked like a different team. I don't know if we just had some of Sam's receivers snuffed out. We got into a slug fest and frankly we got punched in the face and fell to our knees.

I thought the o-line had their best game of the season. Four rushing TD's. Runs averaged 5 ypc on 31 plays. Self only sacked once and frequently had a very good pocket.

Gipson with 9 catches for 144 yards is not what I would call being clamped down. Back out the 48 yard play, and he got 96 yards on the other 8 receptions. I will take that every game. We did a better job of getting him the ball than we have all season. 14 yards on his one punt return.

Other than a couple of errant throws, Self had his best game of the season..

My humble opinions. I don't know a lot, but I have seen every play this season in person. And, stayed in a few Holiday Inn Expresses.

Three tremendous special teams plays in the fourth quarter saved the game: blocked punt, Gipson's return, Campos' kick. Especially sweet after last week's less than stellar play.

Hello Lumberjacks and congratulations on a nice win yesterday.

What a finish!! What a kicker!! Campos is really good. Leave him in Nac next time. Gipson too.

I don't think SFA is exactly our BOPW game yet but the games against you are definitely the biggest on our 2022 schedule. Probably will be for a while until everybody figures out who is in what conference.

As good as Gipson's runback was, you caught a break when our freshman OL got called for horse collar. The call was right but I feel sorry for the young man. He made a hustling play. I liked our chances in OT. Your DL was gassed. Of course when you've got Trae and Xavier you are always in the game.

The game was won by your special teams. 17 points were scored after the blocks and the runback. Heard a rumor from a FB insider that heads are gonna roll at today's coaches meeting.

Would love to see you in 5 weeks for the WAC championship so keep on winning.

You still suck.

Self played a very good game. I didn't mean to imply that Gipson's game wasn't exceptional. It was. We just need another threat That will push opposing secondaries.

My reply wasn't to you. I agree we need another threat to step up consistently. Wedman has had plays. Others, not much.

Watch the replay of the run back. If the young man doesn't make the horse collar, which was the only way he was going to get him down, Gipson almost certainly scores.

I don't have any disagreement with anything else in your post. Campos is talented, and really calm under pressure. Someone that knows his sister said her personality is the same. Nothing rattles her either.

And, in the spirit of whatever relationship we have with ACU, you suck.

The games have been very competitive across the board. I'm thumbs up on the rivalry. I'd say, even a little nastiness would be fine. Just avoid the low class denialism that Bearkats throw at us. The Bearkats have never sniffed a big MBB victory so they're jealous. ACU proved to me that they have chops. I still think the WAC is a superior FBS vehicle in 2-4 years vs CUSA. Let's hope the two universities grow together. Axe 'Em Jacks.

It might have been a Horse Collar, but from where I was sitting, which was on the same yard line as the end of the play, I clearly saw the defensive player grab the facemask. Pretty obvious one to me . I'm frankly surprised to hear it was not called a facemask penalty.

If not for the horse collar, X had the entire left side open and would have scored. That would have been much more embarrassing for ACU. And I don't think you suck. Anyone that lives in Abilene so the rest of Texas doesn't have to is okay in my book.

Just to comment on the broadcast that someone else brought up, I'm pretty disappointed that we haven't improved this. It's been years with a way below average product, and it seems to have gotten worse. Other than adding Mycoskie for football games.

The broadcast this past weekend started maybe 5 minutes into the game, missed our first score.

The camera angles are brutal, always missing half the play/field. And they somehow kept changing the time, timeouts available, score, etc. I'm talking about like every few minutes.

As a TV major, it's embarrassing.

I assume that these are Radio and TV majors doing the production, pretty much students learning their craft.

If so, I wonder what the training is like for these students, do they want to be good at this, do they watch broadcasting of sporting events to see how the professionals do it?

Or is it just a necessary evil to get their degree and just not an interest in their particular field, or could care less about football.

I sometimes wonder if they are on their cell phones during the game, to be so off so bad on the camera as if they were not paying attention to the action.

Ryan Ivey's response:

Thanks. It started late because of ESPN. 10 minutes before kick our commercial logger from Disney asked us if we were already playing. ESPN had a different game playing in our slot. It took DSS and ESPN 15 minutes to fix it so they had a "game is about to start" slate up even though we were playing because you wouldn't see our game.

Camera work is still students. We are always going to be hit and miss with students. For information, we looked into an outsourcing of the football games this year. Was going to cost us $75k. Will be about $125k for all m/wball. So approximately $200k total for all three. We just don't have that budget.

Makes sense, sadly.

Apparently our mass com department doesn't want to help like they do at other institutions like ACU. Ryan isn't happy about current situation, but will continue to work on improving.

One other relevant comment from Ryan:

"These kids are learning and figuring it out as they go, which will help them later on. At the end of the day we are a regional comprehensive institution and our goal should be to provide experiential learning opportunities for our students. Doing so obviously comes with its issues though. "

There is lots of history here...V can explain it better but I know that the athletics dept has not always wanted to 'play nice' with mass comm & radio/TV. It goes back many, many moons.

I was a Radio/TV major and got involved because one of my instructors, who was in charge of it at that time, asked if anyone was interested. I did camera for the basketball games when all we had was the projector, three cameras, and a switcher. Shot football and other sports for the end of the year banquets and the short lived coaches show with Mike Santiago.

I was on the crew when we first got the big board for both basketball and football. We had a decent crew by the time I left and then the university made some changes and the few people that were in charge were let go.

I had a great time doing it. It would be a great opportunity for our students so not sure why the mass comm department doesn't want to work with athletics.

Just like PurpleOut there are so many things with the broadcast that drives me crazy especially them not balancing the cameras so they all look the same.

If I had time I would volunteer to go help but I'll be lucky to get down to one game this year.

SFA is notorious for lack of communication/partnerships between departments. If we join a system, hopefully that is something that might change.

Perhaps , but I don't know how a system influences that. Seems to me that is on the president and department heads. Silos are bad business.

I was thinking creating an atmosphere where that is the norm/expectation. But you're right, a president should set that tone.
