Just hope they learn how to close out a game next year since we should have a bunch of juniors and seniors.

Learn? How do y'all think we went on a 5-0 run to make the playoffs?

Goal next year isn't learn to win tough games. This team knows. Goal for next year is to be so overwhelming that even refs malfeasance doesn't swing a close game.

Ya it fell through tonight. But we overcame a lot to get here.

This.
After the JSU loss this team shouldn't have been able to sniff the playoff, but yet, here we are. They fought for this.
Was today a bad game? Absolutely. 99 times out of 100 I think we win this game by multiple scores. But I can still be super proud of our team for even being here.

Glad I made the drive for a fantastic game with a crap ending.

The end of regulation was poorly planned. Yes a better decision could have been made by Self, we needed what maybe 8 yards for a real shot at a kick. There should've been routes called to the sidelines there.

Defensive line definitely showed up today, unfortunately the secondary did not and neither did the coaches on the defensive side. I don't know how you can allow the same 4 or 5 plays to gash you for an entire game and make no adjustments.

I refuse to bring up the refs........

I lied, refs completely took the game out of the hands of the players way too many times today and that shouldn't be happening in a playoff game. That holding call when we got that fumble completely derailed the end of the game.

I haven't been to an SFA game in about 5 years, and I couldn't be happier with the direction of the team. Cartel has done an amazing job so far, and look at what all is coming back and what we'll get from the portal.

Still digesting what I watched live today....great SFA crowd turnout and they made some noise.
Self was not himself today for whatever the reason. 2 interceptions that were thrown right to a UIW defender and no SFA receivers in the area. Didn't seem sharp and did look like he was pissed off a few times be it at himself or others.
Some questionable play calls again...twice we threw a flanker screen to a receiver on the right side who had no blockers to work with...both times on a 3rd and long. Running Reed straight up the middle on a 4th and 2 when 11 UIW players knew exactly what was coming.
Definitely a couple of questionable penalties in UIW favor that hurt us.
Defense was not up to par today either although after Nichols ran in for a TD I thought the game was ours. One of our best DBs had a couple of plays that we need back, cost us 2 TDs
Sure feels like we let one get away from us that should have been in the win column.

I wish I could show y'all how much horse crap that defensive holding was. You can see it as the top of the screen on the fumble.

Roberts and the WR engage briefly right after the ball was snapped. And then the WR ran right past him creating a gap and yet the flag came out immediately anyway.

It should have been picked up.

Had to be crushing to our defense to think they won the game(they did) to have it wiped away by a penalty.

Guess the ref just wanted an automatic first down on 3rd and 18.

Our last two plays from scrimmage were also terribly designed, they were playing 15 yard cushions. Should have ran another WR screen like for Gipson or a simple out route.

Instead we burned a timeout instead of spiking it, called a QB draw(looked like a designed run to me) which forced us to burn the last timeout.

Then on the last play we ran every player except the RB on 15+ yard routes. We were on the 40. 4 yards would have put it in range for a long fg for our kicker.

If we're gonna maximize this teams potential next year, Storm is going to have to get better. Just some absolute head scratchers this year on playcalling and those matter on the margins in games. And it certainly did last night.

Also, I have no idea what Self thought he saw on that last play. There were no SFA players within 15 yards of the ball and 5 UIW players were. Maybe it sailed on him.

Funny how you generalize I have a degree from SFA that I don't claim.
But I don't go around saying all SFA people are %#%
Many good people from both universities

Tough loss Jacks thought you were definitely the better team
Would love to see close up replay of the holding call also
Would not be surprised if it was bogus

I wish I could screengrab it. Could you call it per the letter of the law in the rulebook? Probably.

Would it get called 99% of the time? Not in my opinion. I don't even think the UIW WR would have argued for the call if it hadn't been called.

When we got that fumble recovery late I took a sigh of relief and said to myself " we just won this thing ". Didn't see any flags and what seemed to be five minutes later they discover one.

Perhaps it's been mentioned, but UIW has 16 grad students (super seniors), and 16 seniors on the roster. Compared to our 8 seniors.
