Everyone in red was from Diboll from what it sounded like. Not sure how many MVSU fans were actually there.

Our "student section" is awful and an embarrassment.

Shame. I remember it being packed and loud when I was there…

That Lincoln game next week could be double ugly. I wonder how that matchup came about. A brand spankin' new FB program playing us?
Came down to Lincoln or no game. Others said no, or backed out.

We need to invite more HS groups to the games.

From the boxes you could hear both stands and with the exceptions of your big plays like TDs, Diboll was louder than the home stands on 3rd downs and what not.

That's good news. I was hoping we'd break 10k this game. Hoping for 12k for homecoming.

Now we just gotta figure out how to get 10k fired up and yelling. That's not to knock our crowd. I think we literally got to teach them.

If that's just how football crowds have been your entire life, why would you know any different?

Literally 8-9 years ago Homer Bryce was rocking on gameday. Hell WRJ hasn't had the same atmosphere since 2016. The fans need to relearn how to be rowdy.

Our secondary is starting to catch more passes and score more TDs than some offenses.

I don't have an answer but what they are doing now isn't it. I think there were more alumni in the pods than students in the student section.

The official attendance was just north of 10,000. That sure looks like a sparse 10,000 to me.... (And I do NOT understand the apathy of students. Attending athletic events was the highlight of my undergrad years at SFA.)

A ton of guys saw the field last night. The coaches must use a super computer to keep up with everyone.

Indeed! Also, the redshirt rule that someone can play up to four games without using this as a year of eligibility. This game, plus Lincoln, are great opportunities to get some young guys experience without costing them a year. Must be a heck of a spreadsheet.

Ya. I think we need a change in leadership, for the student engagement piece. The drop off is crazy weak.

To me, it's a little bit of "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink".

I get wanting to sit in the endzone and not the roasting hot sun. Unless we plant some pine trees on the back sides of the hills, that's not going to change for the time being. And we should look for solutions instead of asking kids to fight against nature for 2 hours til it cools down.

But let's take a look at what we do have:

  • Students in the south endzone could be a cool tradition. Let's get some tents up, maybe a food truck(the school owns a food truck if I'm not mistaken, but also, plenty around town that could rent spots. Give them a reason to come, party, and stay for the game.
  • Students/crowd staying by the ag pond. An easy solution for a partial fix is adding a gate on that side that makes it as easy as possible to enter. Another one is to figure out how to make that a part of the stadium on gameday. The folks in the suites get counted. Why not figure out a way to count the tailgaters?

If you do that, maybe you shorten the fence a little on that side, kinda like UT's Left Field crew at baseball who've built an atmosphere out of it.
  • General crowd noise. It's not just the students who act like they're in a library, it's everyone. So how do you fix that?

    I think you've got 2 potential approaches.

    1. Rope off a few rows in front for the loudest, rowdiest fans you can find, and let it spread out from there. Concentrate your noise and hope it spreads out organically.

    2. Yell leaders. Don't have to take it to an overall wearing extremes that some did, but you could get 7-10 students, cheerleaders, or particularly loud community members, spread them out on the homeside, and just have them get folks up and yelling on third down, short yardage situations, and field goal attempts. Just to get people on their feet and loud. Remember, we've got to re-teach folks how to do this.

Just a couple options. This isn't something we can build in a day, but we do have to build it.

Your plan(s) are awesome. I hope we can execute on one or two. It seems like we fixed something that wasn't broke.

I agree, and Ivey does want ideas and input. He won't say it, because that is the way he is, but they are grossly understaffed now due largely to the budget issues. The ability to resource implementing ideas and initiatives is tough. In addition to those that recently left, Kara Carpenter, the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance is gone after September 30. She is moving to be closer to family. She is a very significant loss to SFA.

After 3.

Again with multiple jersey numbers that are the same number, some stats might be off.

A ton of guys saw the field last night. The coaches must use a super computer to keep up with everyone.
I counted 77 on the participation list. Expect that, or more if they are suited up, this week.

With Lincoln University CA. not being a member of the NAIA or the NCAA, I assume this game will not count on the SFA overall record, nor any stats that are collected during the game.

I believe they are a transitional D2 member. I read somewhere that the game IS a counter. They (Lincoln) are playing a number of NCAA squads.

Honestly allowing students to tailgate at the ag pond is a detriment because they won't go into the game. Move them down and keep all tailgating on hayter and get asses in the seats.

There also needs to be a longer tailgate experience either by the alumni association or just someone. Have a fan fest that starts at noon. Get local businesses involved. It amazes me that we don't see any of the restaurants out there promoting

Ryan has an uphill battle due to the general apathy for football by our students thanks to previous ****ty teams and ****ty administration. I think he can turn this around, and Brandi is kicking ass as well.

Mycoskie is a good quality edition.

But the camera work is terrible. Like a Nacogdoches Earthquake every single game.
