The 2026 season will have 127 FCS programs. Chicago State became an NEC member last July, but its start-up football program will not be a part of the conference standings (still eight schools) this year.

NDSU got no favors with this road schedule. Gonna be tough both financially and on their players.

West Florida, a D-II football program, is building a $40 million stadium.

North Alabama will open a new 10,000 seat stadium this Fall. $65 million.

Honestly, the MWC would be a better fit. CUSA is just not that great of a conference. But I'll gladly take any team that could beat Sam and not give them a bowl game.

From reading C-USA forums the conference looks like it's starting to think more about regionality for newer schools. Odd since they added Delaware, Kennesaw State, and Missouri State, but maybe they realized all of their schools don't have that much money and shorter travel distances would help them.

At this rate C-USA is essentially an FCS conference with better TV deals competing for bowl games.

Exactly why I treat it as that. TV Deals, sure, but CBS Network versus ESPN+? I would take ESPN+ in a heartbeat. The only benefit is the bowls; besides that, it is still a messy travel schedule. I'd rather stick with Southland for a while. Give us easy access to compete for an FCS Title versus a meaningless bowl game that will probably not exist in the near future.
