Something I'm noticing about the successful teams in the tourney. They have bigs that can defend and score and guards that can score. This is no new revelation but you got to have both. Hope the new coach can make it happen.

That's the crutch that keeps Mid Majors from making deep runs unfortunately. Those players are rare and it's incredibly hard for Mid Majors to recruit more than one play who fits that criteria. The champions can recruit enough to have multiple rotations.

Even our 2 best teams in school history, 2015-2016 and 2019-2020, had extremely talented rosters but lacked depth. Eventually attrition was going to set in.

Our team that beat WVU and almost beat ND for example probably had the entire starting 5 capable of being big time P4 starters, but only one or two coming off the bench who could keep it going. Once they started getting tired, that's when you'd see the big boys start coming back or take control from us, at least long enough to be in position to win.

Side note, with the transfer portal I'm curious if our 3 year run with Underwood even happens. Walkup, Parker, Floyd, Charles. All of them would've been hounded immensely to enter the portal.

Just give me a solid above average mid major big that can defend and score.

2 perfect brackets left in the ESPN challenge. After the Duke/Baylor game there will be only one.

Florida, my pick to win it all, almost had the rug pulled out from under them by UConn today.

In the men's tournament my bracket picks were better than 94% of the nation with 11 of the Sweet 16 correct. In the women's tournament I'm only better than 74% of the nation with 13 of 16 picks correct (I stuck with SFA and WVU too).

It's a little thing, but just goes to show that there's a lot more parity on the men's side than the women's. The drop off between #20 and #40 in the men's game is minimal. In the women's, it's a chasm.

Still alive with all my final four picks in both the men's and women's brackets. If I stay right, our new coach will be headed to Nacogdoches tomorrow.

Tech up by 9 with 3 minutes left, Florida hit 4 threes in a row to change the game.

Tech missed two front ends of a 1and1. Huge comeback for Florida

Game wasn't officially over but Houston's Wikipedia's page already had them in the final four.

What a comeback by UH. An 11-0 run in the final minute to win. A 7-0 run in 15 seconds.

I read today that UH's TEAM AVERAGE to run a mile is 5:18. That had to contribute to holding Duke to one FG over the last 10 minutes.

To those who commented on here a few days ago that SFA perhaps had summer practices that have been too physical, I think Kelvin Sampson might slightly disagree with you. And I think our new coach would, too.

And then UH turns around and loses on a would be travel…a mistake that only happens on day one of summer workouts.

I guess that's why it's called March Madness. Looks like UH has to wait until the week after they play us in football to be happy again.
