Arizona State underdogs to GCU tonight at a very non-neutral neutral site in Phoenix.

ASU said "Not so fast." 87-76.

I read an article about Florida's 7'9" freshman (not a misprint) that said they're going to redshirt him. It said that if he plays even one minute he'll burn a year of eligibility.

I thought a player can play up to 1/4 of the games in a season and still redshirt. When did that rule change?

After losing to Arizona State, GCU lost to UC Davis at home and looked very average. They then routed a bad Norfolk State team and beat Standford tonight in Palm Springs. CBU was tied with SMU with 15 seconds left but lost on a last shot. Can you imagine if two WAC teams beat two ACC teams on the same day.

Here's hoping that Clemson MBB blows out McNeese in the First Round of the Big Dance!

At the end of last season, Cooper Flagg was the #1 college recruit in the country. He went to Duke.

The #2 recruit was Ace Bailey. The #3 recruit was Dylan Harper. Both of those guys went to Rutgers.

In the days ahead, Flagg could possibly be playing for a national championship. Bailey and Harper will be watching from home like the rest of us, since 15-17 Rutgers did not get a Big Dance invite. The team also voted to not play in any other postseason tournament.

Bailey and Harper are likely to turn pro now, since they're predicted to be two of the top players in the NBA draft.

Chattanooga and MTSU going into triple overtime in the NIT. Now that's a tournament game.

Damn. Will Wade didn't even wait until McNeese got eliminated to accept the NC State job.

Clemson better get their act together soon or McNeese is going to run away with this.

Starting to feel like SFA v. West Virginia a few years back!

Better make the best of this year. They have 7 seniors and the coach is leaving!

Clemson is playing abysmally. McNeese's offense hasn't been able to fully capitalize, but doing so much better than the Tigers.

Great win for McNeese. As I recall, the conference gets some money from this win too.

Basically doubles the payday.

And it all goes to the conference to be split between everyone unless they changed some rules while we were gone.

Also women's teams are getting money for NCAA tourney now too.

I picked 28 of 32 first games right. (Did not pick McNeese). There are still about 2000 perfect brackets left. With a surprising lack of upsets, this year has the potential for the farthest a perfect bracket can go.

The odds for a perfect bracket are 1 in...

9,223,372,036,854,775,808

So those 2,000 perfect bracket guys still have a ways to go.

Something I'm noticing about the successful teams in the tourney. They have bigs that can defend and score and guards that can score. This is no new revelation but you got to have both. Hope the new coach can make it happen.

That's the crutch that keeps Mid Majors from making deep runs unfortunately. Those players are rare and it's incredibly hard for Mid Majors to recruit more than one play who fits that criteria, and even harder to keep them from the portal once they show how good they are. The champions can recruit enough to have multiple rotations.

Even our 2 best teams in school history, 2015-2016 and 2019-2020, had extremely talented rosters but lacked depth. Eventually attrition was going to set in.

Our team that beat WVU and almost beat ND for example probably had the entire starting 5 capable of being big time P4 starters, but only one or two coming off the bench who could keep it going. Once they started getting tired, that's when you'd see the big boys start coming back or take control from us, at least long enough to be in position to win.
