A friend in Stephenville who regularly attends TSU games told me they're padding their numbers bad. No way they're averaging what they're claiming. From what I've been told the attendance against us(which was definitely not what was reported) was big for them.
We were sitting down on the 45 yard line near the field in the reserve seating section on the home side.
In the 1st quarter during a time out I stood up and did a 360 scan of the stadium and I'm sorry it was no bigger than a SFA crowd at Homer Bryce, and we haven't even cracked 10K this season.
The end zone seats were not even a quarter filled. The student section was packed and loud, but there were empty seats to the left of them and the top deck above us was not packed and there was plenty of seating down where we were to the right. I know what a 20+K crowd looks like and that was not it, a 20+K crowd is a hard to find seats crowd.
Unless they have a ton of people crammed in the suites, or down on the field in those tents, they are cooking the books on attendance.

Unbelievable ending to the UCA vs. Eastern Kentucky game. UCA scores on a Hail Mary on the last play of the game. This was after EKU had just scored to take the lead with 20 seconds left. UCA 27 - EKU 24.
UCA will play Austin Peay next Saturday for the automatic bid into the FCS playoffs.

UCA, the team with 9 lives, they have been doing it all season, finding ways to win.
A bright note we can take out of this entire disappointment of a season is the UAC I believe has defied all expectations as a conference. It's fair to say it's the 3rd or maybe even 2nd best football conference in the FCS now overall. And I would much rather lose in a dominant conference than be dominant in the Southland, which don't get me wrong, we go undefeated in the SLC.
If we stayed in the SLC we would probably have 2-3 conference titles in a row now in football, probably have won the last 3-4 SLC basketball tournaments, and definitely dominated all the women's sports.
To me this move has been the best thing that could possibly happen to SFA Athletics. We are playing with some big dogs of Mid Majors now. And everyone sees that. A WAC basketball loss is no longer a death sentence for our Tournament seeding. And in 2-3 seasons the UAC may be a 2-3 team FCS playoff league, with every team capable of competing for Frisco.

Attendance yesterday at EKU wasn't anywhere close to 9,000. Even including all of the high school drill and band members. The upper deck on the press box side was virtually empty. The stadium staff, and the fans that were there, were all very welcoming and helpful.
I guess they just count ticket sells and not actual butts in the seats, and many people just don't show for whatever reason, who have already bought tickets in advance.
Tarleton State must experience this as well.

I could be wrong, but I haven't heard many Tarleton fans who haven't told me how much they've cooked their attendance numbers this season. The first game in the new stadium was big, but even on tv their crowds did not look really impressive.
They definitely did better than us with attendance this season, that being said even in bad years our attendance isn't awful in any sport. If we can have 2-3 seasons in a row of consistently making it to the playoffs and winning a game or two in the postseason I would hope we could consistently get it over 12k.
