Not sure about APSU. Could be a fraud.

I've been watching the UAC games and Central Arkansas is the real deal.

They had 2 TD's called back against OSU, and their rushing attack is going to be hard to defend.

North Alabama is a sleeping giant that is waking up.

Abilene Christian and Tarleton are dark horses, just strong teams up and down this conference.

I believe Austin Peay and Eastern Kentucky are a bit hyped, I was not impressed with what I saw.

Looking at the scores around the conference from the first two weeks, are we secretly the third best conference in the FCS? We are hanging with FBS opponents and every team seems to(for the most part) stay competitive. 7-5 might be the conference champ with this conference.
SFAXE93

I've been watching every UAC team play this week and I was going to make the same comment.

This conference is SEC light, just stacked from top to bottom and the defenses are all really fast causing havoc in the back field.

Austin Peay:13
#9 Tennessee:30

- Austin Peay lead in the 1st half and it was 13-6 at half time

Eastern Kentucky:17
Kentucky:28

- EKU lead in the 1st half and it was 7-7 at half time, EKU then took the lead back in the 2nd half 10-7 and Kentucky never lead in the game until at the 9:41 mark in the 3rd. The score was 21-17 UK near the end of the 3rd.

Southern Utah:16
BYU:41

- Last week Southern Utah gave Arizona State all they could handle and this week, with the exception of the 2nd quarter hung with BYU. It was 6-3 BYU in the 2nd quarter. SUU scored 13 points in the second half while holding BYU to 14.

Abilene Christian:45
Prairie View A&M:16

- ACU dominated on the road.

North Alabama:31
Tarleton State:52

- The Lions lead 28-17 at halftime before the Texans went off. North Alabama had defeated a good Chattanooga team last week.

UCA vs NDSU will be interesting. The Bison aren't what they used to be but if UCA can hang with them or beat them they're going to be the team to beat.

That ACU vs. UIW game should tell us if ACU is for real, especially their pass defense. ACU's schedule so far has been weak.

Being optimistic, UCA gives them a game. UAC looks like a legit top 3/4 conference
SFASawmillGuy

UCA is putting a fight, unfortunately it's like a fight between an amateur and Mike Tyson right now. NDSU is beating up on them 42-17 in the 3rd.

49-31 final for North Dakota State.

UCA has a great running back.
SFASawmillGuy

ACU took UIW to the wire. Now the question is are they that good or did UIW finally run out of amazing coaching hires and outstanding quarterbacks?

Also Austin Peay has a hell of a QB. We're gonna need to really get after him next week.

IMO Central Arkansas has the most balanced offensive team right now in the UAC.

RB ShunDerrick Powell is an absolute stud, averaging 12.8 yards a carry, and 131 yards per game.

The Bears average 200 yards passing a game, and 280 yards on the ground and they don't commit TO's (only 1 INT so far this season on 110 attempts)

I'm blown away by Tarleton's numbers!
SFAXE93
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The population of Stephenville is only 21,000, and Tarleton State has an enrollment of about 14,000.

Nacogdoches has a population of 32,000 and SFA has an enrollment of about 12,000.

Which area is more passionate about football?

Look at their social media. They're promoting their home games like events. The new stadium and fancy purple light show they have in the stadium helps too.

We need 2-3 seasons of 7/4 - 8/3 records before we get 11,000 - 12,000 in HB with regularity.

If we get consistent, contending, I think we can get >10,000 type turnout.

Also, Tarleton State has been winning of late (going for their 6th straight winning season) mainly in the division II ranks.

2023: 3-1
2022: 6-5
2021: 6-5
2020: 5-3 (part of a season)
2019: 11-1 Conference Champions; NCAA Playoffs
2018: 12-1 Conference Champions; NCAA Playoffs

Winning, upgrading facilities, heavy promotion of the games, with events, etc.

Fwiw, I think Tarleton is using some creative counting.

Crowds look nice but pics I saw didn't look like 20k.

I'd love to get to 10k most games, and 13-15k for parents and homecoming.

I do wish we had some family ticket packages or cheap seats options on the visitors side . East Texas isnt a super prosperous place & we price a lot of locals out and I think that could really help ramp up numbers.

The last couple of sentences are so spot on. I have said it before and say it again....the Nacogdoches and surrounding areas are not by any means wealthy.
Yes we know that SFA athletics need $$ to be more competitive but pricing the locals out of events is Not the way to go about it.
SFA charging for parking is ridiculous. Making it $80 or so for a family of 4 to attend a game is not going to work in Nacogdoches. When reality meets all these ways of making extra money, reality is going to win, plus you further lose support of the east Texas crowd because you alienate them and give the appearance of SFA arrogance when the locals can't afford to go. Pricing the locals out of the market is a losing proposition for all.

Last season on Family Weekend we had 12,590 in attendance against NAIA school Warner.

Is charging for parking new this season?

I thought that SFA had started charging for parking at athletic events. Pretty sure Keller mentioned it in one of his many videos or interviews.
I'll gladly strike the comment if not but I know it has come up on this board before.

Parking is still free in most spaces in the big lot across from WRJ.

And I agree that $20 for a general admission ticket is exhorbetant. I don't buy season tickets for football since I live so far away and can only attend a couple of games each year, and even I get ticket shock at the walkup window, and I'm no pauper. Give the dadgum locals a price break, at least for one or two of the games!
Ljacks&Longnecks
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Well, glad to hear there is still lots of free parking. But don't ever expect to see deals for the locals. Cause the money is far more important than working with the community and attempting to build the fanbase.

Let em eat cake
