Absolutely! I think he's only a sophomore, so he'll be getting other offers, I'm sure.

Gotta hope Vidlak goes off next year, wins a title, goes to the NFL, and convinces his brother SFA is worth it.

As a sophomore he's already garnered a lot of national attention, so tbh he will probably get some P5 offers before it's all said and done(Sam did go to Oregon St on scholarship to start his career).

The prospect of coming to an FCS school like SFA to start right away and build your resume is a good selling point though. It worked for UIW with Cam.

Titus Vidlak named 1st Team All-State (4A) as a sophomore, and lead all 4A Qb's with 2,649 yards, 35 TD's, 65% completion on his passes.

Yeah, a source close to Sam told me that Sam has mentioned his brother is better than he ever was in high school, and he's just a sophomore. I'm sure Titus gets some really good P5 offers. The coaches might need to sell it as him being a day 1 true freshman starter and we get one really good year out of him.

Just curious. How does one become a "5 star long snapper"?

By giving yourself the title haha.

To earn a 5-star long snapper rating, a recruit must demonstrate the ability to start immediately at a Power 5 (now Power 4/Major FBS) college program.

Ratings are primarily issued by specialized specialist evaluation services like Kohl's Long Snapping and Rubio Long Snapping, rather than general services like 247Sports or Rivals.

A 5-star prospect typically meets the following measurable and technical criteria:

  • Snap Speed: Consistently snapping a 15-yard punt in 0.65 to 0.75 seconds or faster.
  • Accuracy: Mastery of the "Rubio Zone" (lowest rib to mid-thigh, armpit to armpit) and the ability to consistently hit the punter's hip or "laces out".
  • Physical Profile: Ideal D1 FBS size is roughly 6'2" to 6'4" and 220 to 250 lbs, though smaller athletes can earn 5 stars by being exceptionally explosive and athletic.
  • Consistency: The ability to perform perfectly under pressure, especially in charting sessions and "live" head-to-head competitions.
  • Additional Skills: Clean ball rotation (spiral), blocking ability against rushers, and the athleticism to cover punts effectively.
Path to a 5-Star Rating
[ol]
  • Attend National Showcase Camps: Rankings are almost exclusively based on in-person performance at major specialist camps. Key events include the Kohl's Scholarship Camp or the Rubio Long Snapping Vegas Events.
  • Participate in Charting: At these camps, every snap is "charted" for speed and accuracy. Top-tier snappers often score perfectly (e.g., 20/20 on targeted snaps).
  • Earn Invitations: High performance at regional camps can lead to "Invite Only" elite events, such as the Rubio Top 12 Camp, which are the primary pipeline for 5-star designations.
  • Maintain Academic Eligibility: Most 5-star long snappers are expected to be "recruitable" by high-level programs, typically requiring a 3.0+ GPA and strong SAT/ACT scores (e.g., 1000+ SAT or 24+ ACT).

A good long snapper is an underrated thing. I recall a few years that we had a number punt or field goal disasters because of bad snaps. Get pinned deep in a tight game you absolutely cannot mess up the snap on a punt.

3 star QB out of South Oak Cliff, Jayden Williams committed to SFA yesterday. He had a pretty underwhelming offer list including Texas Southern, Alford state, Henderson state, Midwestern state, and east central university

In his video clips on Hudl he shows to have a very good arm, with deep and accurate throws. Plus, last summer he led SOC to a 7-on-7 state championship, which, as you know, are throw, throw, throw games.

But I agree with 85. Probably a redshirt year coming up.

Looks like a high quality group of recruits coming in, especially McPeak and Wallace.

Wallace looks like he could be the next Xavier Gipson or Bugs Mortimer.
