Even after all the hard times in baseball for SFA, they still dominate McNeese, now 6-2 against the Cowboys in the last 8 meetings.

I feel like the times will be getting better.

We're seeing something we haven't seen in baseball, development throughout the year. The team has genuinely been getting better and more consistent.

And what an opportunity to finish out the season strong with a possible sweep of UIW, going into the off season 7-3 in the final 10 games, a season highlighted by wins at Lamar, at Abilene Christian, at Tarleton State, New Orleans, Northwestern State, and a series win at McNeese, yes the program is headed in the right direction, as SFA's RPI has improved from #250 (out of 307) to #218 in the last few days.

Regardless of how this season will end, I'd say year one with the new coach has been a success. I don't think anyone expected us to magically become contenders over night. No we wont make the conference tournament(I might be wrong but pretty certain we're mathematically already out), but I think the team has improved in all aspects and the future is bright.

Actually pretty excited to see how we build on the improvements next season.

I think that the team has shown resolution to being a TEAM.

If they would have won 1/2 of the games that they "could" have, you're looking at what might be a 20-25 record right now, and then w/ a sweep of the last series vs. IW, 23-25. I'd say that it great improvement for a TEAM that was basically put together in the last 18 months (or less for some kids).

Be interesting what the portal brings, and hopefully does not take away.

Very true, SFA was either in the lead or tied going into the 7th inning or later 10 times this season.

If they can take 1/2 of the bolded games and convert them to wins just by understanding on how to win close games. That adds 5 games to win total.

Get a few of the other close games, and this season could have EASILY been a great success. "it all evens out" eventually, but this year, sometimes we were our own worst enemy. Gotta learn to just get out of your own way.

Sometimes the offense had a chance to extend the lead, and couldn't get it done. Other times it was pitching missing that shut down inning or two that gave the offense a chance to continue the momentum.

Those that could have been different (THE HCU GAMES WERE PAINFUL)

Purdue G1 - Tied 1-1 after 6. Lost 4-1
Purdue G2 - Tied 2-2 after 7 1/2 Lost 4-2
Baylor - up 4-3 after 5 1/2. Lost 9-4
New Orleans G1 - Up 2-1 after 7. Lost 3-2
New Orleans G3 - Down 3-2 after 5. Lost 3-2
Lamar G1 - Down 2-0 after 4. Lost 2-0
Lamar G3 - Down 3-1 after 5. Lost 3-2
SLU G1 - Up 3-0 after 4. Lost 4-3
Tarleton G1 - Up 7-6 after 7 1/2. Lost 14-8
HCU G1 - Tied 4-4 after 7 1/2. Lost 6-4
HCU G2 - Up 8-7 after 7 1/2. Lost 12-8
HCU G3 - Up 4-3 after 7 1/2. Lost 6-4.
TACC G2 - Up 3-2 after 7. Lost 8-5 in 16.
TACC G3 - Tied 4-4 after 7. Lost 6-4
NWS - G3 - Up 5-4 after 7. Lost 7-5

latest D1 projections has only SE La in the field and UTRGV as the first team out. I would think they would get 2 teams in the field from the Southland this year as strong as its RPI as a conference has been

Baseball History vs Stephen F. Austin from Feb 16, 2014 - Apr 3, 2021

SFA leads the overall series 10-8 and has won 3 of the last 4 meetings, in those three wins SFA won with a combined score of 36-2.

The Cardinals of UIW have had a rough season to say the least, now in last place in the standings and struggling greatly at pitching, as they have the SLC's worst ERA at 8.45, while giving up 400 runs and walking 253 batters with a batting average against at .320.

UIW fairs much better with their starting lineup, having one of the best in the conference, second only to UTRGV in fielding percentage at (.975), and third in home runs (56).

That lineup is highlighted by INF #14 Rob Liddington, the 6-3; 220 senior out of Phoenix, Arizona, with a batting average of .363 (5th in the conference) 69 hits (4th), 48 runs (5th), 12 doubles, 5 triples (2nd) and 13 home runs (3rd).

SFA ace Cody Templeton looks for his final start of the season, 2nd in the conference with 78.2 innings pitched, and leads the conference in the least amount of walks allowed (11)

Not one, but two Cedar Park Timberwolves in this one, Texas State transfer #4 Ryder Hernandez for UIW and Julian Swift for the Jacks

Let's finish Lumberjack strong!

Thanks for all you do "93". Love all the time you put into Lumberjack Baseball.

I'm only a couple years from retirement, so hopefully I'll be getting to SFA baseball games soon.
