Dusty Hart would be a great signing but that for sure is a long shot. But a man can dream...

The numbers are impressive. Meaningless until we get decent facilities.

From what I heard WTAMU also doesn't have much facilities either. So pretty much will be normal to him haha.

Pretty nice facilities done at a fair price. I'd take that…

Wish him all the best. Faces a mountain of work here. Maybe the new leadership will take baseball seriously and make the effort to make us competitive. We will see.

He had only one losing season at West Texas A&M, (two losing seasons in his career) and that was his first in 2009 when they went 20-33.

Ran off 15-straight winning seasons after that.

The other losing season was his first season at Clarendon College going 22-30 and then two straight winning seasons before going to WT A&M.

I can't imagine a scenario where Vanderburg takes this job without serious commitments from the administration to build D1 facilities. I mean , what incentive would he (Vanderburg) have to move from the catbird seat, to the bottom of the barrel, unless he got a commitment to give him a real chance of winning.

I wanna know how much we paid cardinal grange for these last two hires.

Don't get me wrong, McBroom and the baseball coach look like great hires on paper. I'm happy with them.

But McBroom worked with Weaver for years. Vanderburg worked with McBroom for years. They were the blatantly obvious choices, the betting favorites as it were.

Certainly we didn't pay tens of thousands for these insights.

I'm no expert, but I've been on the "hiring" end. In some cases these "consultants" are doing some base level "vetting". That's it. Paid 10% of the starting salary. That's not much for SFA. Especially a coaching position that probably doesn't pay more than $150,000.
TallTexan

Baseball coach will probably make 85-90k. He made 73 at WT. I'd expect McBroom to be at 250k or so.

I'll be the search firm when we need a new track coach. The WT coach is excellent and I wouldn't mind the 7-10k check.

Gotcha. Surprised BB is that low. Hope they (SFA Athletics Department) get Debbie Humphreys some more money. She's long since earned it.

You are probably correct BigJack. To leave a winning situation for the train wreck baseball has been here would be unwise at best. Baseball was mentioned in the facilities to be upgraded talk from the AD.
I fully believe we could draw well from the ArkLaTex region if we had something to offer---and be true contenders in the SLC year in and year out.

That would be great. I hope SFA decides to COMMIT to baseball. Thing is, I think we could get a good start for $10 million. I hope we "resource" the program.

Part of the move to the SLC is a change in expectations. Fan expectations. When we moved to the WAC expected some programs to get "short shrift". The priority was for men's basketball to be a top 3 WAC squad year in year out.

My expectations (in the Southland) are that SFA be top 3 consistently in most sports and no worse than middle of the pack in a couple of sports. We all know what the expectations are for MBB, WBB and WVB - - - Contend for the title EVERY YEAR.

Leaving what they call their softball complex but built baseball as well. Not bad!

Sorry but this is their baseball! that he is leaving!

If I had read a little closer, I would have seen cboothe09 has already posted...sorry.

It appears to be a very nice playing surface. For the field alone & some metal stands, I wonder what that would cost.

Wonder what that construction is for in the background? Maybe a parking lot for their sports complex?

I see lots of upgrades at WT A&M.

What's the university's plan for the land direclty across from the commuter lot on University Drive?

Specifically the part between the Nacogdoches animal hospital & the PPD Housing Operations Building.
The link below may work.

The total area is 18 acres, but the deepest part is about an 8 acre rectangle, which is almost the exact same size as the current baseball & softball fields.

You wouldn't even need to build much parking, just a pedestrian bridge from the commuter lot.

There's no way the baseball/softball complex like at WT could be more than 6-8 mil?!

Naming rights for Wilder Park cost the family only $200,000 if that says anything on the cost…

Baseball/softball complex in our TJC Master Plan. 2022 cost estimated at 15.5 mil!

Although I love Mike Carter Field. Loved catching Wildcatter games there.

I have no idea. This is Mike Carter Field and I love watching games there. TJC is shooting to get everything on campus over the next 8-10 years.
I believe there are locker rooms etc not seen in the architectural pictures.

Coach V will pretty much have a clean slat on the roster as most of the starting lineup has graduated or in the portal.

The pitching staff needs a complete overhaul.

Don't know about Brock Knoerr (Jr.) he would be the biggest return currently on the roster.

Just not sure why you make a coaching change without some facilities. I mean, maybe just maybe there's a slight improvement. Not expecting much.

I think he's a good coach.

But outside of an introductory press conference boiler plate stuff, I'd be real curious what the plan is.

Not to get to NCAA tournaments. What's the plan to regularly make the conference tourney?
