Is it random that I got a piece of mail addressed to Cardenas at my house today and now they have a winning streak?

SFA:3 (5-27; 2-13)

ACU takes the series 2 games to 1 with a convincing 11-3 victory.

Again the Jacks take an early 2-0 lead into the 3rd inning only to watch it slowly disappear only to watch ACU fires off 5 straight scoring innings.

Cole Hill manages a HR (5th, second on the team) going 2 of 4 and Cal Martin goes 2 of 4 at the plate with 2 hits (1 a double)

Both teams field 10 hits but ACU made them count with some help from the Jacks who committed 3 errors.

6 pitchers see action today for the Jacks combining for 8K's, 6 walks, and 8 ER's.
ACU had good command today of the strike zone with 11K's, 1 walk, and 3 ER's.

SFA baseball returns April 9 on a Tuesday with a road trip to Beaumont to take on the red hot Lamar Cardinals (24-6) who are 12-2 at home.

Lamar had a 13-game win streak going that Houston ended in late March, but Lamar started another one that began with a 3-game sweep of #25 Oklahoma in Norman (12-10; 13-8; 6-3) and a 11-3 victory over Sam Houston.

Lamar is now 18-2 in their last 20 games.

SFA heads to the left coast, Riverside, Cali for a 3-game series with CBU, starting Friday April 12 at 8:00 P.M. ESPN+

The Lancers sit at 3rd place in the WAC tied with Utah Valley and are 20-13 overall record, 8-4 in WAC play. They have won 3 of their last 4 including a series win over Sac State.

Also with notable wins over USC, Pepperdine, and UConn.

SFA:0 (5-30; 2-15)
CBU:7 (22-13; 10-4)
Final

Ice cold in the bats for the Jacks as the Lancers take the series scoring 7 runs off of 10 hits.

The Jacks do get 5 hits and strand 9 base runners.

SFA pitching with 13K's, 3 walks and 7 ERs
CBU with 7k's, 2 walks, and another shutout.

Unfortunate for CBU as 1st place GCU and 2nd place ACU keep winning, so no ground gained for the Lancers.

Game 3 today at 1:00 P.M. ESPN+

At this point I would be happy with at least 1 run in this series.

Make that 3 straight shutouts as you didn't think this season could get any worse.

With the exception of the 2-runs scored in the top of the 9th against Lamar, SFA has been held scoreless for now 37 innings.

I've heard people talk about the baseball coach for several years and what a wonderful guy he is. I'm always glad to hear that coaches are good people, but at some point you have to look at effectiveness. He has ZERO effectiveness as a baseball coach. Time to make a coaching change or kill the program. As it is, it is nothing but a monumental waste of money.

Nice to be on the other end of a blowout!

The Jacks score in all but 2 of the 9 ending, 13 runs off of 12 hits and no errors.

True freshman Dylan Mulcahy gets the start and makes the most of it going 4 innings, striking out 4, no walks, giving up only 2 hits and 1 run.

The staff as a whole K's 7, walks 4, giving up 3 ERs on 5 hits.

Brock Knoerr, gets 4 runs off of 3 hits and Cole Hill homers in the 2nd (6th of the season) as SFA took a quick 7-0 lead in the 2nd.

SFA now turns their attention to the bottom half of the WAC. (Seattle, UTRGV, Utah Tech, and Sac State)

In the battle for the WAC's ultimate cellar dweller.

SFA pitching couldn't find the strike zone as they walk 7, hit 2 batters, and only strike out 2.

Final

What a game for the Jacks!

31 total hits in this slug fest with 21 runs scored in a 10 inning thriller.

The Vaqueros took a commanding 6-1 lead into the top of the 5th and it was looking like same old same old when the Jacks came storming back with 7 runs between the 5th and 7th innings highlighted by freshman Colton Griffin's 3 run homer (5th of the season) in the top of the 7th as the Jacks took the lead 8-6

UTRGV answered quickly in the bottom of the 7th with a homer of their own scoring two more runs to tie it up at 8 a piece to send the game into extra innings.

SFA retook the lead in the top of the 10th 11-8 with RBI's from Prescher, Hill, and Parker.

Kade Parker held on for the win with a 3 pitch inning for the Jacks as UTRGV scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 10th but it wasn't enough.

SFA pitching gave up 10 ER's off of 15 hits, K'ed 5, walked 9 and hit 3 batters.
UTRGV k'ed 13, gave up 11 ER's off of 16 hits, and walked 4.

UTRGV pitching was spot on with 10 K's and only 1 walk, giving up 3 ER's

SFA 5 (7-38)
DBU 19 (32-11)
Final / 7 innings

The Jacks did for a moment have a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st from a Parker RBI, but that was it as the Patriots poured it on with 19 runs off of 16 hits. Parker also got his 2nd HR of the season in the top of the 7th.

With the exception of the bottom of the 5th DBU scored in every inning including 6 home runs.

It was 14-1 in the 3rd, just completely dominating performance by a playoff bound team that is going to do some damage in the CWS.

10 more to go to close out this historic season in Lumberjack Baseball.

Back to the Nac for a 3-game series with Utah Tech. The Trailblazers are not doing much better than the Jacks at (10-32; 8-16) so maybe we get a series win out of this one!

Utah Tech has lost 5 in a row and 9 of their last 10.

Definitely time for a change in leadership. Clean house on the program.

9.51 team ERA ranks us 289 out of 295 D1 baseball teams. Best individual ERA is 6.97. Ouch.

Offense scores 4.2 runs per game, good for 292nd out of 295 D1 teams.

Ever since I've been at SFA, it seems they've alternated between having a bad offense and OK pitching, or bad pitching and an OK offense. This is just bad on all fronts. At some point, you cannot use facilities as an excuse, and these numbers are definitely at that point. It is recruiting, it is coaching, it is in-game management.

Game 1

SFA:2 (7-39; 3-22)
UTAH TECH:10 (11-34; 9-16)
Final

Last home stand for the SFA seniors and things did not start off well with a quick 6 run 1st inning for the Trailblazers as Will Larson didn't even make it through the inning before getting pulled.

Andrew Kithil came in and settled things down pitching a nice 1 run 4 inning stretch with 2 K's.

But the damage was done as the Jacks could only manage 2 runs off of 7 hits.

Game 2

SFA:12 (8-39; 4-22)
Utah Tech:4 (11-35; 9-17)
Final

The Jacks fire right back in the second game of the double hitter with a nice pitching performance by Parker (2-2), Bowyer and Boyett Reid, and Crew Wilson combining for 4K's, 4 walks, and giving up only 3 ER's off of 6 hits.

Utah Tech once again jumped out to an early lead on some aggression base running to take a 3-1 advantage into the 5th when SFA answered with back to back homers from seniors Cal Martin (5th) and Tyree Carr (2nd) putting the Jacks ahead 4-3.

It was all SFA after that, as the Jacks score 11 runs in 3 innings (12 runs off of 15 hits)

Griffin with maybe his best game of the season gets 3 runs off of 3 hits (1 triple) with 4 RBI's.
