We had heard this was coming. I wonder if the signing of six recruits with four seniors is indicating that some will be assigned to this sport. Not sure how that works. I also wonder if this opens up the opportunity to add another volleyball coach. You know, like one that is moving to Nacogdoches.

Women's volleyball is allowed 12 scholarships. It is a headcount sport, meaning 12 girls get a scholarship. Beach volleyball allows six scholarships and is not a headcount sport. So, there could be 12 girls sharing those six scholarships.

Here is the coach. Ivey has been busy.

Perfect.

Current beach volleyball programs in the SLC are (I think), ACU, UCA, HBU, UNO, and A&M-Corpus.

I think this could be a good sport for the university. I'm assuming this is a spring sport?

Lanana Creek Beach. And if you can play there, you can play anywhere.

Beach volleyball in February?? That should be interesting. (I assume they will play outdoors...)

I am very curious to see where they plan on playing their home games. The Rec center sand courts would need a major overhaul to host legit collegiate sand volleyball, at least from what i remember from my days

It will go in the grass area between Shelton/HPE complex and the education annex/tennis courts. 6o-90 day project to be done this Spring.

SLC championship starting next season.

As long as we are on that subject, Ivey believes they will break ground around May 1. Having an experienced beach volleyball guy in Luna on board has allowed him to do some tweaking to the plans that he knows are appropriate. Not a long construction timeline of course.

A little tough for our beach volleyball facilities to compare to this location.

Scope of Work: The university wishes to increase the number of sports available to female students with the addition of a beach volleyball program. This sport is very popular with other Division I athletic programs. To offer the sport and compete with other Division I programs, a minimum of three courts must be created. To facilitate practices and scheduling, construction of a fourth court is also planned. Funding source: Designated Fund Balance
