SFA (7-1) vs. Louisiana Tech (6-1)

The Bulldogs are a perfect 4-0 at home and are a fairly young team and not too much in size with 4 players 6-8 or taller, tons of guard play.

Most of their home games are broadcast on the pay stream at cusa.tv, though I'm not positive about this one.

They got 4 guys that average in double digits. Looks like Bracey (#4) is their play maker. He is averaging 5 assists per game.

We have to show up offensively to win this one.

It would be nice if we got a good crowd to travel to Ruston. I think that would make a difference.

Well despite the lackluster offense, I do think the coaches and players have completely turned around the TOs. It has been consistent and credit is deserved.

The offense is well, not good. If we could avoid 5+ min scoring droughts we could be extremely dangerous and virtually compete with anyone. There appears to be a lot of issues though. And the upcoming teams have seen what "works" to repel us. I think we will see stacked paint defense and 1_3_1 schemes until we can attack it effectively.

After Keller's presser comments, who gets more minutes Wednesday, Canete or Charles?

By the numbers:

SFA: 81 PPG - 64.4 PA - 48.3% FG- 36.5 RPG - 12.6 APG - 3.0 BPG - 12.9 SPG
LT: 85.6 ppg - 68.7 PA - 47.3% FG - 37.7 RPG- 13.3 APG - 5.1 BPG - 7.3 SPG

Pretty similar teams. The big difference on these numbers is we are much more aggressive defensively with 13 steals to their seven. They are tougher in the paint with five blocks to our three.

Their numbers are good, but I'm not 100% sold on their schedule. Alabama was a good game they should have won. You could say the same about our trip to Starkville. Their wins come against UT-Tyler, Southeast Missouri State, Montana State, George Mason, Evansville, and Miles College. I don't think they are that far off from us.

This should be a good one, and definitely not an easy one, but a winnable game on our part.

Also La Tech was most recently #19 on the mid major madness poll. Doesn't really mean anything, but it would be nice to take them down.

I just don't get how the math adds up on paystreams for crappy conferences. Are you really making more from the fee than you'd make from the advertising from more viewers?

What's the cost for their stream anyhow? I can't find it on their website.

While not playing for a couple more weeks, Coach said on the show tonight that Nathan Bain practiced today. He said he looked great in half court defense, but obviously was very short on legs when running.

It will be nice to add some long arms in conference play.

I've always wondered if some schools get together and have one person pay while a bunch of people use the same login info. I would never do that...except for Netflix and Hulu.

Unfortunately it's quite the drive for Virginia. If Shaka Smart would cover my ticket cost, I'd show up to watch Texas play VCU tonight, if that counts.

That's an answer I'd expect from a Sam Houston fan, not from you!

No, it's a state law that prisoners are not allowed internet access, and even if they could qualify for day passes, they can't leave the state.

All those smuggled cell phones & bribing the guards with conjugal visits. SHSU is a shady bunch. That's how they all got sentenced to 4 years there in the first place.

Question: If this game looks like the last three (ugly offensively, defensively tight) and we come away with the win, do we still quibble that things haven't "clicked" yet? Or do we say we can even beat good teams in our own way?

I would be pleased with almost any kind of win against La Tech. Tech is a credible candidate for the tournament. Probably a 22 , 23 win team.

We really need to start playing these games at like 10 AM. Tired of getting excited about gameday, only to have to wait 12 hours to see us play.

I know it! It's tough for me to concentrate at work, and I use a lot of sharp tools.

I know how pumped I get on game day, I always wonder how the players handle the excitement/anxiety through the day. I know they have an early shoot around, but I bet it's still hard not to burn off anxious energy.

If we continue our trend of limiting turnovers (16 against NDSU and 9 against ULM), sharing the ball (14 assists on 23 buckets against ULM) and better free throw shooting (need to shoot 70-75% overall, not the 60% last two games), then I would even accept a loss if we are cold shooting. Jacks need to take more open jumpers and not worry so much about missing the shot. Bottom line, if the Jacks build and continue to improve in the three categories mentioned above, I think we win if we shoot better than 40% overall. Axe em!!

Time to begin my search for a bar owned by La Tech Alumnus so I can crash a watch party!
