SFA (2-2) vs. Presbyterian (2-3)
WHEN: 11/22 (THU) 6:30P.M.
WHERE: William R. Johnson Colosseum (Nacogdoches, TX)
WATCH: ESPN+
The Jacks (184 -KenPom) host their first MTE in recent memory and get three days of basketball in the Sawmill. Three midmajors Presbyterian (273), Monmouth (276), and Youngstown St. (183) will play a round robin style tournament that hopefully leaves the home team on top.
Despite Keller's encouragement, none of these teams are great or primed for a breakout except maybe Youngstown St. Presbyterian our first matchup has beaten a decent Wofford team at home, but like the Jacks, are still looking for that first road win.
The Blue Hose (yes, that's their team name) are a good shooting team still averaging over 50% for the year and above 40% from 3. They are led by 6' 6" senior guard Kobe Stewart who is averaging over 25 points per game.
The Jacks are one of the best teams in their two D1 games at keeping their opponents from shooting well. This will be key if the Jacks want to chop some Hose. However, the Lumberjacks offense is worse than 85% of all teams. In this home stand they have to learn how to score.
While no big names or huge matchups are in store this week, hosting a tournament in Nacogdoches is a huge step forward for our program. If the Axe Em Classic could become a yearly or biannual stop for teams, it could really turn into something special. Please come out and support your Lumberjacks!
