SFA (4-2, 0-0) vs. Tarleton State (4-2,0-0)
WHEN: 11/29 (WED) 6:30P.M.
WHERE: William R. Johnson Coliseum (Nacogdoches, TX)
WATCH: ESPN+
WAC play comes early this year with a November matchup between the Lumberjacks and the Texans of Tarleton State. Both teams have started the year with a little promise at 4-2. SFA sits at 92 KenPom while Tarleton is at 166.
The Texans are playing an uptempo defense as has been seen out of Gillispie's teams since he's been there. They are one of the best teams in the nation limiting shots near the basket. They are excellent at steals and getting rebounds. They are not great shooters statistically, but they are led by a trio of seniors who all average over 10 points a game. Jakorie Smith is leading the way.
SFA brought some life into the Jack faithful with a stellar second place in the Cayman Islands Classic. They admittedly got handled inside by Utah State bigs, but overall their showing in the tournament highlighted the depth and offense this team has. With a good Thanksgiving break to prepare for this first week of WAC play, expectations are high for this team to succeed.
Come out tomorrow to the midweek match to yell for your Lumberjacks.
