SFA (12-5, 4-0) vs. Utah Tech (9-7, 1-2)

The SFA Lumberjacks are 4-0 in WAC play and rolling for the first time all year. Taking down preseason favorite Grand Canyon on Saturday was a big boost to the morale of the team, and they now know that the WAC crown goes through them. However, most of their damage so far has been at home. The Jacks now start a huge three game road trip that will change this season.
The Jacks have only played Utah Tech once as a WAC foe and that was when the Jacks shellacked Dixie State at home by 29 points. Most of that team has returned and have bigger ambitions this year. So far, Utah Tech is undefeated at home this season and hope to rely on home court pressure to snuff out the Jacks.
Led by Cameron Gooden (5' 11", Sr., G) who is averaging 15.6 ppg and 4 assists, the Trailblazers shoot a ton of threes every game. Big man Tanner Christensen (6' 10", So., F) is coming into his own scoring 10 ppg and grabbing 8 rebounds a contest. Utah Tech is one of the best teams at limiting rebounds especially on the offensive glass, but also have a lot of trouble scoring.
If you discount neutral courts, the Lumberjacks have won all their away games this year: SDSU, La Tech, and UTA. The next three games will help prove whether this is a real road team or not. The Jacks and the Trailblazers are virtually tied in NET rating and KenPom has this game as essentially a toss-up. But this isn't the same team that made those ratings.
Posey and Ware while not 100% are showing that this team is a lot better with more offensive threats. Robbie still hasn't adjusted his offensive speed to hit on all cylinders, but his rebounding presence is providing relief around the rim. The team is beginning to get a sense of their whole identity. And it's getting scary for opponents.
The Jacks know that nothing except real dominance is going to keep them from a good chance at a NCAA berth. The real contests of Southern Utah and Sam Houston await, but all road games are huge and they cannot overlook this game. They are coming to handle business.
