The Lumberjacks will be heading back to Ruston Wednesday night for the first time since Kevon Harris iced the game with his last second layup. The game was a definitive win over Keller's former employer that propelled the Lumberjacks to a momentum that carried them all the way to the NCAA tournament.
While this game doesn't carry quite the same weight as that one does, SFA is trying to build some energy heading into WAC play. This week's games against La Tech and Furman are the last chances to show what the Jacks have outside of the conference grind. They're hungry, and they are ready to take on the Bulldogs tomorrow night.
Louisiana Tech is a team with good stats that hasn't beaten any team of importance. They are good at scoring (78ppg) led by guard Cobe Williams (5' 11") with 17.3ppg. They are excellent at limiting post scoring and grabbing rebounds due to their two strong forwards Isaiah Crawford and Dravon Mangum. While the team as a whole is young, the core is experienced.
This game will be about our ability to control the rim. Nana and Hall are going to be tested all game, and they will need Robbie's help inside to fight for the rebounds. Jossell's return clearly helped in the Paul Quinn game, but outside shots will help break the zone look that the Bulldogs will want to employ. La Tech is making about 10 threes a game, so perimeter pressure - especially picking up Williams - will change the outlook of this game.
It's time for a spark to this season and the Jacks are ready for this week to start the flame.
