Two bad games in a row down the stretch.

Probably too many.

Never like to lose but better today than next week.

You think this will get them refocused. I bet so.

Definitely a game that shows that when a team starts to believe the game gets easier. That 20-5 run to start the second changed the complexion of the game. UTRGV started to believe that they would win.

We played good the final 7 minutes or so, but the Vaqueros just had enough juice to respond to everything.

Aiyana who is a 66% FT shooter this year went 8-18 from the line. Not pinning the loss on her, but an example of belief. She missed 3 of her first 4 and couldn't pull it together from there.

Kellogg is one of the best to regroup his teams. We'll be ready to go on Friday.

I have lots of words. But not appropriate for this forum. V is getting them tho.

Honestly, their players and coach are DIRTY AF . Yes we play physical but not dirty and with unsportsmanlike conduct. Lane said something to Aaliyah, who started defending herself, then UTRGV girls started going after our players. Ivey had to escort them off. Classless.

Our team is TIRED and they have had an AMAZING season in a new conference and dominated it. A 2 pt loss hurts as a team but they will use this to fuel them through the week and be ready for Friday. I mean didn't the guys have 'come to Jesus' meeting after going 4-4 in conference play? The Ladies will respond as well.

If some of yall doubt that AND this team?? Well, sounds like yall haven't been to enough Ladyjack games to know how resilient they are.

I stand corrected ...WE were the ones who didn't respond properly. BUT it was because (IMHO) they played so dirty. #14 for sure and 11. They are on our side of the bracket.

Otherworldly shooting from behind the arc. The chances of that happening again by RGV against anyone in Vegas are 1 in 1,000.

I understand that players have off games where shots just don't fall. I don't find fault in that. What I DO find fault with is our abysmal defense from the 3 point line. We didn't even try to protect it. That is disappointing and frustrating all at the same time.

How did they call a lane violation on us on the last FT? If anything, that entire side of the lane jumped in at the isntant of the shot.
nacluth

It wasn't in the lane. She came inside of the arc which is the same.

So they called it on Zya or Bri? They definitely did not cross the line.

Live in the moment, it looked to me like Zya rushed it and the ref called and pointed at her. Haven't watched the replay yet.

Have rewatched it a couple times and neither of them even moved.

AB & the right side of the lane all shift as soon as the ball leaves her hands but to call one you'd have to call all three.

Maybe it was Aiyana?

Edit: Looks like it was Aiyana. Didn't stay behind the line until it hit the rim.

Aiyana was across the line early. Probably something we almost never practice.

Not much to add to what others have said about this game. RGV shot lights out from three, but almost none of those shots were contested at all. They defended us much better than we defended them. Aiyana looked gassed from the opening tip. It really showed in her free throw shooting. Physically tired, or senior day emotionally tired? She has always been a bit of an enigma. Love her and hope she comes back, but she lets emotions take over. The same was true on Thursday. Punched the basket standard on a couple of occasions. We got very little from the bench.

Kellogg has one of the most challenging coaching jobs of his career ahead of him. I don't believe it is an easy task to let go of the last two games. Plus, every other team knows now that we are beatable.

Not really a question for this week, but has anyone heard if there's any chance of the four seniors who have a year of eligibility possible are coming back? Sure looked like goodbyes yesterday.

I think they are in the moment of this season right now and concentrating on what needs to be done & their goaals for 2021-2022 before they think about next year. As fans, we want to know NOW but I think we can understand that this is their life & they are living in the moment.

This^^

After a great season, early clinching of WAC title and only 3 losses vs good opponents on their home courts, the Ladyjacks have played poorly the last 2 games At home. The 2 games they must win in WacVegas will be against better opponents than these last two. Surely expect and hope that they will return to form on Friday and Saturday.
One hopes that they didn't peak too early and will come charging back in Vegas.
I can't really buy the tired thing as by this point in the season every team has been through 30 or so games...if we are tired so is everyone else. Need to find the Killer instinct and come out hard on Friday.

Wow..lots of fans negative on the Ladies. Sure glad they don't read this forum.

Didn't our MBB lose a conference game against T&M CC the year we beat Duke? And we were saying they were a Sweet 16 or better team? Seems like the women have a higher level of expectation here hmmmmm

The NMSU game we still won by 8 points. Everyone is acting like we barely won.

I don't think we peaked too early. And I have faith in this team. They will be ready. Kellogg called them a tough team after the loss & I know that is true!

I'm so proud of these 5 seniors too ...all in Grad school. They are not finished with this season yet! Gotta start manifesting positivity this week!

The bar is sooooo high. Almost unrealistic. I'm disappointed and I shouldn't be.

Not negative...an honest assessment of the last 2 games. One can be a Ladyjack fan and be quite aware when they did not play well or lost a game they had no business losing and comment in that regard. Doesn't diminish my place as a fan, doesn't diminish the success that the Ladies have had this season. Pretty sure the coaching staff and the ladies themselves are aware of how the last 2 games went.

Also not a women vs men thing either. I was furious when the Duke beating men lost to A&MCC that season. Totally unexplainable result as was the UTRVG game Saturday and those kind of losses are hard to take and digest. When the men are playing poorly, their game threads are full of negative remarks or whining (sometimes by myself) about poor play, why is so and so playing etc. Quite common on that thread. If your point is that the Ladies should be immune from any comments that could remotely be considered negative because they are women then we just have to disagree. The UTRVG loss was a bad loss. Now they must forget about it and focus on the Wac tourney.

Been a Ladyjack fan since the fall of 1976 when I discovered them my freshman year and they were the draw as far as SFA sports went at that time. I've seen the great, good, bad and ugly over all those years including many pre internet years where I had to hope that the Austin paper might have all the basketball scores from the previous evening. Ladyjacks have always been a special culture and it's great that the Kellogg years have brought them back to a level that they belong. I'm looking forward to their continued success this season and beyond.

Oh they are 100% aware of the last 2 games. Players themselves are too!

I just think sometimes we need to take a step back and remember just how good of a season they have had, are the outright WAC Champions, and are also students at the same time. I was also furious with the MBB loss that year BUT it didn't diminish their entire season and when we look back, we remember that Duke game. With this season for the Ladies, I will remember their dominance in a new league WITH some major setbacks (COVID, AB injury) and that last game loss will diminish over time.

And I was Negative Nancy x 1000 in the 2nd and 3rd quarter yesterday! Post whatever you want! I just like to turn it positive after a day or 2 because it's in the past and we have much more to look forward to but I know that's me and not everyone.

And I quite agree with those comments. It has been a great season and it's not over yet.
